Maggie asked for my help by going in a double date with her.

"It will be fun and is a chance for you to dress up again." Maggie said with excitement.

"After the other night? I'm not so sure." I said to her.

"Common. You haven't been on a date since your breakup. It would be food for you!" Maggie said.

She does have a point. How am I ever going to move on if I don't climb back on the horse? I feel like getting dirty.

"You're right. It's been so long since I had sex I feel like /I could do this double date solo." I said to Maggie.

"Woah! Easy there. Leave one for me."

"That means you will come, right?" I asked Maggie.

I take a moment to weigh up the options in my head before nodding. "Okay, I'll do it. Besides, I can't embarrass myself any more than I did the other night with my neighbor."

"Yes! Thanks! You're doing me a huge favor—" I cut off Maggie before she finishes her sentence.

"But I have conditions—if I don't like him, I walk."

"Of course! Do you really think I would set you up with some loser? Trust me. You are going to love this guy. Now, you should go get changed. I will meet you tonight." Maggie said as she picks up a dishrag and whips me with it.

"Ow! Okay. Okay! I'm going."

********

In the evening, I am preparing for my big date.

What's wrong with me? I haven't felt nervous in years. I'm pretty sure my ex put me off men altogether. If tonight goes badly, I could always become a nun.

I dig through my sexiest clothes and arrange several options.

Still, a promise is a promise. If not for me, then for Maggie.

I wore the bold outfit that I have in my options. A cross crop top, high waist golden jogger with a tie on the waist, a gold choker and some black high heel shoes.

If I'm going on a date, I may as well look confident... even if I don't feel it. I should get going if I want to get there on time.

*****

As I enter the oak-clad bar and struck by the air--- thick and heavy as molasses.

I take a cursory glace around the room and I'm pretty sure Maggie isn't here yet.

She is never early. It looks like I'm early. I'll grab a seat and wait for her.

As I sit down at the bar a drunk man approaches me.

"Hey missy. What a pretty girl like you doing here all alone?" The drunk man asked me as I look at him.

Seriously? I only just sat down.

"You look lonely... Do you want some company?" The drunk man said.

I hope Maggie gets here soon...

I turn away from the drunk man to show him that I am not interested, but he didn't get the message.

"What's wrong with you? I was just being friendly. Or are you just playing hard to get?" The drunk man said as he lean closer to me.

Ignoring them usually sends a strong enough signal. But not this idiot, apparently.

"I'm not interested, and my friend will be here soon." I said to the man on my side.

"I could be your friend, baby. What's your name?" The man said to me.
