"So, what do you say? I bet we could have a lot of fun. With the apartment finished and your brother back soon, you have no excuse." Theo said with a smile.

I flick my eyes between Maggie, who looks exhilarated, and Theo, who holds my gaze with fierce determination.

Just me and Theo together in Hawaii? Can I handle him alone for the whole trip? I'm sore from just one night...

I glance at Theo, and his magnetic eyes pierce through mine to make the decision for me.

"When are we leaving?" I ask with a smile.

When Connor returns home a few days later, I was here to greet him with a hug and a smile.

"Welcome home, bro." I said.

"Thanks, sis. It's good to be back." He said as he holds me at arm's length to inspect me through narrow eyes.

"What happened to you?" He asked.

"Nothing. Why? What is it?" I asked him in confusion.

"You've got this... glow. You're glowing." He said.

I turn bashfully away and press my hands to my cheeks.

I must have needed Theo in my life more than I knew.

"I'm not.  You're imagining things." I said to him.

"Fine. Don't tell me. But can you explain where my couch and curtains are?" He said as he points at the replacement furniture that Theo helped to order.

"Don't you like the new ones?" I asked him.

He starts pacing around throwing confused glances left and right.

"That's not the point. A bunch of stuff has been replaced. What's going on?' He asked in a panic with confusion.

Connor has the right to know about the flood. And I hate lying to my brother.

"The night you left. I came to your apartment, and it was flooded. Everything was mined, and the builders were nowhere to be seen." I said to him with a frown.

His eyes widen in panic as he scans the entire space again.

"But nothing seems to be broken." He said.

"Because it's been fixed." I said.

"Damn it. I shouldn't have hired those builders. I should have listened to Theo when he told me they were amateurs.' He said.

As my heart jumps as little at the sound of his name.

I still haven't confessed of hooking up with Theo. But at least I came clean about the apartment.

"The couch was ruined. I'm sorry." I said to Connor.

"It's okay. I'm glad nothing else got broken. how did you manage to fix everything anyway?" Connor asked.

"I had help... Thanks for letting me stay here while you were gone." I said.

He looks up from admiring his new expensive couch to my bags by the door.

"No problem. You can stay for longer if you want. I have got more than enough space." Connor said.

"Actually, I'm going on vacation for a week. After that, I will probably crash at Maggie's." I said.

He looks at me with curious eyes, " Vacation? With who?" He asked.

I sigh. He has to find out sometime. But I tell him.
