Rex POV
"And you are Rex aren't you? The leader of Perseus' warriors, am I right?"
I was so transfixed with him, that I barley registered what he said. He sat on top of a throne that easily reached 30ft. I had to look directly up in the air to even see him. The power radiating off him was so great it literally burnt the air around it and I found it quite hard to breathe. There was another strange thing about him, he didn't seem to have an exact form. He seems to me now to be an 50-60ft tall human, but his form was flickering and changing like some sort of illusion. It was as if he was made of water, water that was trying desperately to break free of its human mould. I cast my gaze around the rest of the room, and felt the same unimaginable aura of power.
"You're probably wondering who we are. We are the primordial council, the original immortals and masters of the universe. The council consists of 8 of us, me, Uranus, Tartarus, Moros, Eros, Typhon, Erebus and Hypnos. I trust that you are familiar with the stories of my fellow council members exploits."
"Yes" was all I could say. For some reason I really couldn't think of anything intelligent to say. For the first time since I'd met Perseus, I was struck by just how insane my life had become. For 19 years, life had been completely normal. There had been a few weird things, I later learned were monster attacks, but apart from that I was a normal kid. The one day I was attacked by a bunch of monsters, and by the end of the day I was serving under a God named Perseus. At the time, I didn't have time to consider the way my life had changed. We were always on the move, always fighting. Those first few months with Percy were a blur, one day blended into another as I slowly became the leader I never thought I could be. We recruited the other into our group, and I gained a sense of brotherhood that I hadn't had before. I came to care for the lads as if they were family, even if they got on my nerves a lot of the time. Then we ended up at Camp Half Blood and were embroiled in some worldwide mythological war fighting invisible opponents who had rallied together every threat we had ever faced. One thing led to another and me, Scar and bullseye had traced them across the country to Kronos' base. We fought him, lost, split up and I ended up in front of the most powerful beings in the world. These beings were staring at me, studying me intently, their gazes so bright I had to close my eyes.
"Good. There is no reason to fear us, the way I see it there no reason we can't get along. I promise you'll be attended to with the upmost hospitality. All we ask is that you don't cause trouble and try our patience."
Once again I found I couldn't speak. I was in complete shock at what he was saying. I had expected anything from death, pain, torture even maybe being used as bait to draw out Percy, but not this.
"So what, you're basically going to give me a holiday as long as I don't bother you. This is too easy, your hiding something."
There was a sudden movement around the room as Tartarus and Moros rose from their chairs. They at once changed form 60ft to well over 100ft. Moros was the most horrifying thing my eyes had ever seen. Covering his head was a black metal helmet with horns and empty sockets where the eyes should have been. The jaw was filled with what looked like extremely sharp rocks protruding from indents in the metal. A red, flowing liquid cascaded like a waterfall from the left side of his helmet, painting the entire thing in an eerie red light. The top of the helmet was covered in rhino horns, the ivory snapped and burned in various places. His neck and should were covered in the same metal. Horns, this time made of metal, covered his shoulders, sticking out at odd angles from the ridges in his armour. Among the jagged horns, celestial bronze knives and spears could be seen sticking out of his neck having done no harm at all to him. His breastplate was most startling. It was severely dented, as if whole buildings had been thrown at his chest.
"Sit down, my friends" Pontus said "there is no need for such a reaction."
Taratarus sat down at once and resumed his previous stance as if nothing had happened. Moros slowly does the same, he empty eye sockets glaring at me.
"I apologise for that, Rex. You will now be sent to the chambers that you will use on your time with us. Remember, young warrior, all you must do is follow orders. Do not try my patience."
