Sweat covered each examinee from head to toe as they reached their sixth hour of straight sprinting. It had all been a straight hallway, so it wasn't as hard as it could have been, meaning only one examinee had failed.

And he was doomed from the start.

Most of the clothes were either left behind or packed into the bags of those who were smart enough to bring them. The disgusting smell of exhaustion, blood, and sweat wafted around the hundreds of examinees, most of them covered in hair.

It had gotten to the point where (Y/N) had to run right up to the front in order to escape the smell because where her friends were was where most of the smell was coming from. Not necessarily from them, but they happened to be near the smelliest examinees.

She found comfort in being right behind Satotz, as he didn't smell at all. What she didn't find comfortable, however, was the peering eyes that stuck into the back of her.

But all (Y/N) had to do was outrun the stampede of animals, and she could do that just fine. Because she knew she wouldn't outweigh them in strength, so once she was caught it was game over.

Her eyes lay on the ground, steadily watching her feet as she ran. Then, as her gaze lifted, her eyes widened to see a lengthy, torturous staircase. One that had to stretch kilometres - it was steep, some may say the stairway to heaven.

Or hell.

"Now... I'm going to pick up the pace a bit." Satotz grinned, and immediately sped away, leaving the examinees in the dust.
