Their feet stamped against the hard, cold ground as they swiftly moved through the remaining home stretch of the first phase. Gon sniffed Leorio's signature cologne out, and Kurapika trusted the younger boy enough to blindly follow him.
As soon as the putrid smell of danger and death sprinkled into a fresh air and the wafting sweat and cologne, the two boys knew they had reached the group. Immediately, their eyes darted between each and every examinee there; the unique faces were all puffed out, but still on guard.
Gon's eyes smacked onto Hisoka, who was already grinning at him. Slowly, but surely, the clown lifted his hand and pointed to a nearby tree - where a barely-conscious Leorio slumped.
"Leorio!" Both Gon and Kurapika called, and they immediately rushed over to the worrisome man. Leorio's eyes lazily moved up to them and softened with relief that the two were okay.
"You seem fine except for the injury on your arm," Kurapika spoke.
"You.. look at my face!" Leorio cried, pointing out the hugely formed lump on his right cheek.
"When did you wake up?" Gon asks.
"Huh? Oh, just a little while ago..." Leorio sighs.
"Have you seen Mieko yet?" Kurapika was the next to speak, and Leorio's eyebrows knit together with concern.
"What do you mean? I thought she was with you?" Leorio asks the two, who slowly turn to each other in shock.
"Maybe she's with Killua..." Kurapika mumbles, and Gon gulps.
