We arrive at Rachael's house and climb out of the car to go inside. I stand beside Evan and hold his hand. He leans down and places a kiss on my temple. I think he could sense my nervousness. I hadn't seen any of these people since high school, and a big part of me was scared that someone would bring up Kai, or worse, Kai would be here.

We followed Dana as she strode inside, receiving a collection of squeals from the girls seated around a table, who then ran up to her and engulfed her in a group hug. They all chattered, as I looked around Rachael's house, looking to see if Kai was here. There were guys seated outside and on the sofa inside, but none looked like Kai. I signed a breath of relief as Dana and the group of girls came up to me. Natalie Lewis looked at me with slit eyes before turning her eyes over to Evan. Her auburn hair was blown out and stopped just below her breast bone, small freckles dotted her face and she had the most piercing almond shaped blue eyes.

It was my understanding that Natalie had dated Kai once I'd left for St Louis. I think they were in a situation-ship even before Kai and I broke up for good. I swallowed hard as she made our way over to Evan and I. Evan looked awkward, slightly out of place, but Elliot stood next to him just the same.

"Hi Alex, who's this?" She pointed towards Evan, who's face turned up in an awkward half smile.

"Is he your cousin?" She asked me, biting down on her lip and stepping in closer. I could smell her intoxicatingly sweet perfume.

"Uh boyfriend actually," Evan interjected, surprising both of us. I leaned down and grabbed a hold of his hand again, as Natalie crossed her arms over her chest.

"Ah, right. Well I'm Natalie," she introduced herself to Evan, and he nodded his head.

"This is Evan," I said, "nice to see you again Natalie," I lied through my teeth.

"You too Alex," she smiled at me, and turned and walked off towards the boys sitting outside.

A guy I recognised as Austin, approached us and held out his arms for a hug. I laughed in disbelief and hugged him. Austin and I shared every single class in high school, it was good to see him again.

"Alex I can't believe you're here," he said, smiling, "hey man I'm Austin," he held an open hand out to Evan to shake, which he did, I think begrudgingly.

"Come outside, we've got enough for a few bowls for you boys," Austin encouraged Evan and Elliot to follow him outside.

"Come on Alex, you too," Austin pulled me outside by the wrist and sat us down around a small table.

I looked over at Dana, who was still catching up with the girls from high school. It must be nice to be so well liked.

I looked over at the glass bong sitting on the table, as Elliot packed his first bowl.

"Do you even want to smoke?" I asked Evan, as Elliot brought the bong up to his lips.

"Yeah why not, I don't do it often but sometimes I get around it with Elliot and Curtis," Evan explained, shrugging his shoulders. I laughed and nodded my head,

"Hard to stay away from it with those two," i said, making Evan laugh too.

"Your go Peters," Elliot passed the bong into Evan's hands.

The boys ended up having more weed than we planned. They couldn't stop laughing at the dumbest things. They fit in with the other guys so seamlessly, you'd think they had all been friends for years.

I laid on the pavement with my eyes closed. I could feel my heart racing in my ears. I hadn't had pot for months, and a couple of bowls was enough to get me completely stoned. Although, high sex with Evan would be out of this world.
