I sat in the library across from Lucas in a study pod. He furrowed his eyebrows down at his laptop screen and scrolled through our assigned reading for art history titled medieval art in Europe.

"When are we going to skip to the art making side of things?" Lucas joked. I laughed and leaned back in the swivel chair, opening up a muesli bar to eat.

"I guess how art evolved is more important," I threw my wrapper into the small bin in the corner of the pod.

Lucas and I had been going through Art History and our first assignment since midday today. It was 4 in the afternoon, and we were both getting antsy.

"Fuck, let's get out of here, I think I'm done," Lucas slid his laptop into his backpack and closed his notebook. I followed, packing away my belongings.

"Yeah me too," I agreed and we both got up and pushed our chairs in.

"I think we overstayed our pod booking anyway, was only supposed to be 2 hours," Lucas let out a laugh and we made our way towards the door of the pod, entering the library.

"So, did you hear about the start of year party this weekend?" Lucas asked me as we left the library, walking down the marble staircase to the grass quadrangle that sat across from our dormitories.

"I may have heard some people talking about it, are you going?" I asked him. He nodded his head.

"Yeah, you should come, I think it would be fun," Lucas smiled at me. He had a nice smile, straight teeth and a dimple in one cheek. It reminded me of Evan. But Lucas had light features, pale skin, but blue eyes and blonde hair. He was tall, standing at about 6'1 and I was yet to see him without either his soccer uniform on or a pair of light washed denim jeans.

"I'll get Dana to come too," I suggested.

"Sounds good, I'll see you in class tomorrow?" Lucas enquired, "yeah of course, see you then."

We parted ways at the entrance of the dormitories.

When I arrived at my dorm room and unlocked the door, I was surprised to see Dana sitting on her bed, her back pressed against her headboard.

"Hey!" She exclaimed, putting down the book she was reading.

"Hey Dee," I tossed my tote onto the floor at the foot on my bed.

"Haven't seen you all weekend, spending time with Evan?" Dana enquired, placing her chin in both her hands and fluttering her eyelashes at me. I let out a small laugh.

"A lot actually, I slept at the house twice in a row," I sat down on my bed.

"Looks like things are moving fast," Dana addressed. I had to agree with her obvious statement, things were moving fast.

"I heard him on the phone with who I think was his ex last night, her name doesn't happen to be Emma does it?" I bit down on my thumb nail anticipating an answer.

"Yeah it is," Dana bit her lip as she looked at me with concern on her face, "why was she calling him?"

"Seems like she does it often, she was trying to get him to pick her up or something. Worst thing is he lied to me about it, said it was his mom on the phone," I picked at the hangnail around my thumb. Dana's eyes widened in surprise.

"That's no good Alex, sounds like he has a lot of baggage and some shit to sort out," Dana picked her book back up and flipped the page.

"By the way, have you heard about the college party on Friday? Lucas asked us to go," I heard my phone buzzing in my bag and leaned over to retrieve it. Evan was calling me.
