Down with Warren

It turns out I was drugged the night of the party. I was back in my dorm by the time Saturday morning came around. It seemed like Warren's intentions were to drug me and assault me, but the kit came back negative. I think he must've gotten cold feet and realised how fucked up it was. It was 2 weeks into college and I had already been roofied at my first party. The come down from the roofy wasn't great. I was curled up in my bed with the duvet over my head. Dana hadn't left my side since she found me, because she felt so guilty for everything that happened. I told her not to blame herself but she wouldn't listen. She said she should've followed me to the bathroom that night and not let me go alone. The hospital had given me a medical certificate and work let me take the weekend off. The bill got sent to my parents, and they were so worried, mom hadn't stopped sending me text messages asking if I was okay.

Evan hadn't tried to contact me either after last night. I'm not sure why, but Dana said Curtis hadn't been able to get a hold of him all night last night, like his phone was turned off. I hope he was okay.

"You want something to drink Alex, some water?" I could hear Dana move over to my bed before peeling the duvet from my face and exposing me to her concerned eyes. She was crouched down by my side.

"That would be nice Dee," I smiled at her and she gave me a small smile back. It seemed to really effect her seeing me like this, but I suppose I'd be the same if the roles were reversed. It was then I heard a knock at the dorm's front door. Dana got up to answer it and it who I supposed was a college mentor entered with Lucas and Amaya. The three of them gave me she same concerned look Dana did. The college mentor pulled up Dana's vanity chair and sat down beside me. I was embarrassed because I looked like shit and was in my pjs.

"Hey Alex, how are you going? I'm Sara. I just want to talk to you about the party last night," I was tempted to cover up my face again with the duvet and ignore her, but I knew I shouldn't. Amaya and Lucas appeared at my bedside.

"Hey Al, how are you going?" Lucas sent me a small smile.

"I'm alright, just trying to get over all the shit my body consumed last night," it seemed to lighten the mood because Lucas and Amaya let out a small laugh.

"We just wanted to see how you were, we're sorry for last night. Warren is a fucking asshole," Amaya sounded angry.

"Yeah, that's community college football for you," I guess I used humour as a coping mechanism. Amaya and Lucas left with Dana into the hallway, and I was alone with Sara.

"Can you take me back as far as you remember?" Sara held a pen in her hand and rested a spiral notebook in her lap.

"I got ready, had a couple shots.. we got to the party and Warren came over to us and he offered me a drink.. I saw him pour in the vodka from a flask in his pocket. I just felt sick after that, the room was spinning and I felt numb. I got up to the go to the bathroom and Warren helped me up and took me into a bedroom to lay down. I remember feeling his face close to mine but.. that was it until I woke up to Dana and Elliot. They took me to the hospital and I got back this morning," I explained to her. She nodded and wrote down into her notebook as I spoke.

"And what did the hospital say?" Sara asked.

"They said I had rohypnol in my system but the kit came back with nothing," I fiddled with my fingers and didn't make eye contact with Sara. It hadn't fully set in what happened last night, but I felt with everything I had going on in my past, it was just a small bump in the road.  I didn't want this to resurface all the things I was suppressing, with living a new life away from Malden.

"Okay thank you, do you have the discharge summary?" Sara enquired and I pointed over towards my desk and she picked them up.

"Is it okay if I keep this?" I nodded again in response and she offered me a smile.

"You're doing really good Alex. From what you've told me, we have enough to expel Warren and have this on his permanent record, between eye witnesses and your hospital visit. I'm taking it up with the board on Monday. His parents will be notified and it will be effective almost immediately," Sara reassured me. I knew that if this happened, the rest of the football team would despise me. Not to mention, scouting in college was happening in the next few months and Warren would miss out. The bigger part of me knew he had to suffer for what he did, if that meant other girls wouldn't be subject to his deviance.  I thanked Sara and she left shortly after.

Dana came back in alone with a glass of water. She set it down on my night stand.

"How did it go with Sara?" She asked me, sitting down on her bed across from mine.

"She said Warren is getting expelled," I informed her and she sighed a sigh of relief.

"Hope he rots in hell for what he did. I'm so glad Amaya reached out to Sara to sort this out," Dana leaned back on her bed and opened her book.

"I'm gonna go back to bed now Dee, maybe we can go somewhere for dinner with everyone?" I offered and she smiled at me and nodded her head.

"Yeah of course, get some rest. I'll wake you around 6."

I buried my face in my pillow and drifted off to sleep with Evan on my mind.
