"They'll be here in a few hours." H informed me as I sat next to him on the couch. He had just gotten off of the phone with my father. The others would be joining us to help come up with a plan to erase Vincent once and for all.

My father gave us strict orders to tell him what we were planning before we executed it. Knowing him, he was going to hover over every move we were going to make before we made them.

"Gives us some time to relax a bit before things get even more chaotic." I sighed, taking some of the blanket H had on and covered my legs with it.

We had gone back to being civilized with each other again now that I knew what was bothering him. Some days it felt like we were two ticking time bombs, if one went off the other would too.

I stiffened as soon as my foot touched his leg under the oversized blanket. Instinctually I  pulled it away, caught off guard at the contact.

I felt H shift next to me as I continued to avoid looking at him out of fear that he had noticed me retract from the touch.

"I've seen you naked, stop being weird." He grumbled as he reached under the blanket, taking my legs and laying them across his lap. My mouth fell open at his forward comment and actions. He turned the TV on and flipped through the channels as he continues to ignore my dumbfounded expression.

I closed my mouth once I recovered and tried my best to focus on the TV. I felt H's body heat against my legs and it sent a pleasant shiver down my spine. I craved to feel his warm hands all over my body.

No, stop it you horny bastard. I mentally cursed at myself.

"You're tense, something on your mind?" H asked nonchalantly as he leaned back against the couch. His arm rested along the back of it, his hand a few inches from my face. I studied his hand for a few moments. He wore two silver rings, one on his middle finger and the other on his ring finger.

"You still have it?" I whispered in surprise as I recognized the one on his ring finger. It was a simple silver band, the same one he had wore when we were engaged.

He looked over at his hand and moved his thumb to twist the ring on his finger before he spoke.

"Of course." He whispered back, flicking his gaze to meet my own. A moment passed by as we continued to stare into each others eyes. The temperature in the room started to rise. I felt my skin tingle and my heart thud in my chest. It was just a ring but to me it meant so much more that he still wore it.

It gave me hope.

"H.." I started off but couldn't find any other words to say.

"Why are you fighting so hard?" He asked as he rested his other hand on my leg over the blanket.

My eyes shifted to his hand on my leg. I still couldn't find any words to use. I swallowed hard and looked back up to meet H's intense gaze.

"I.." I wanted to tell him that I wanted him. I wanted him back then and I still wanted him now, but my voice was stuck in my throat.

In a swift movement H pulled me onto his lap. I sat sideways, never breaking eye contact as my hand rested on his firm chest. He brought his arms around me and held me close.

He buried his head in the crock of my neck. My eyes fluttered shut at the contact of his skin against mine. We were so close, something I hadn't realized I had missed so much. I felt so safe, sitting there wrapped up in him.

"I tried to fight it for so long because I don't want to hurt you again.." I whispered against him.

"You could hurt me a thousand times and I'd still want you." H said softly against my neck. My heart felt as if it could explode in my chest. I felt my eyes water at how overwhelmed with love I had become in that moment.

He still wanted me.

He lifted his head so he could see my face.
"I didn't mean to make you cry-" H started to apologize as his eyes filled with worry. Before he could finish I had shifted on his lap. I straddled his legs as I crashed my lips against his. My arms wrapped around his neck as I pulled him closer to my body. His arms wrapped around my waist as he kissed me back.

Our lips moved in sync, like we were puzzle pieces that had finally found their matching part.

My hands found their way into H's hair and I tugged gently at it. I earned a groan from him as his hands traveled down my lower back and onto my ass. He squeezed gently, causing me to moan at the contact. He still knew me and what made me tick.

We separated our lips after a few minutes had passed, the butterflies in my stomach thrashed around violently. I rested my forehead against his as we looked into each others eyes once more.

"You know what this means?" I asked in between breaths.

"You lost?" H smirked, stealing one more kiss.

"It means we have to be careful, if my father finds out he's either going to kill you or welcome you back in and celebrate." I smiled.

"Pretty sure he already sees me as his son in law. Even after you left." H shrugged.

"He definitely likes you. Otherwise you'd be dead by now." I laughed, feeling a weight lift from my shoulders.

I unhooked my thighs from around him and sat next to H. I curled against him and ignored the restless ache between my thighs. I couldn't bring myself to continue things, not until after Vincent was dead. I couldn't let us get distracted by our lust for one another.

"I'm also pretty sure your father knew what he was doing when he made us work together." H suspected.

"My father always has a motive, no matter how small. He's always got a plan or scheme. In a way I'm thankful for that." I sighed as I rested my head against H's shoulder.

He nodded in agreement, changing the channel. We flipped through the channels for a few minutes before we decided on a movie that was playing.

We watched in silence but it was a much different silence than before.

It was a comforting, content silence.

Deep down I still couldn't shake the feeling that somehow, something bad was going to happen. If it wasn't today, then it would be soon.

No matter what storm was coming, I would hold my promise, I wouldn't let anyone else die because of me.
