I was cold, I wasn't sure where I was or what was happening. All I could feel was the darkness consuming me.

I wasn't sure if I had escaped death or if I was already cradled in its arms. I remember feeling cold, so very cold as if there had been ice shards flowing through my veins. I couldn't see or feel anything. All I could hear was muffled voices, and I was unable to make out who they belonged to.

"Prep the paddles!! She is going into cardiac arrest!"

"Clear!" Nothing happened.

"Again! Clear!" Nothing.

"Come on, girl, fight! Go again, full power!"

"Clear!"

My eyes shot open as I felt the pain shoot through my chest, and I gasped for air. I looked around to see doctors and nurses crowded around me as they worked to keep me breathing.

"Good girl, stay with me." A woman smiled, teary-eyed. Who is she?

Did I just die? I couldn't speak as I felt an array of emotions flood my body.

Fear, anger, panic, confusion, and relief?

"My name is Dr. Even's, I know your father." The woman spoke softly to me.

She knew my father, so that must mean she was tied to us in some way or another.

I was still unable to speak and my throat felt dry.

"You're going to be okay." She continued to reassure me. I couldn't see what her hands were doing, but I was pretty sure she had me split open.

The panic returned as I remembered what had brought me here. I had been shot.

"H." I managed to whisper as I felt a wave of sleepiness wash over me.

"Just sleep now, I will be here when you wake up." Dr. Evans smiled as the darkness returned to me.

"She will be fine." Niall kept telling me as we waited on hard, uncomfortable hospital chairs.

It had been three hours since we arrived here, and with every passing minute, I continued to grow impatient.

"They didn't ask questions. Why didn't they question us?" I talked low to Niall.

"I contacted the boss. Dr. Evan's is one of us." Niall paused for a second before he continued. "Thankfully, she'll tie everything up and wrap it in a big red bow for us."

I clenched my jaw.
"Are we certain she can be trusted?"

"Boss gave his word. He'll be here in an hour to make sure of all that." Niall nodded.

He looked as exhausted as I felt. I knew we were all growing tired of these games. Vincent was a step ahead of us this time. He was growing stronger and smarter with each passing day. Who else had he taken from our side? Who else was willing to cross Sky's father to help him?

I was slowly losing it at the rate we were going. We needed to start making bigger moves. Someone must have warned the Dillard's about our attack, but who? We had a snake in our presence, and that was much more dangerous than Vincent.

"We'll sit tight then." I scowled, glaring at the vending machines in front of us.

"Skyler Rivera?" A woman in scrubs called to us.
