Chapter 7 - Hard Work

As the two of you leapt off the boat and onto the docks, Beidou gave you a signal to move quickly and catch up with her as she grinned at you in her distinct manner. You ran up to her and started walking with her, admiring everything around you. You struggled to adequately express it in words because it was so lovely. When Beidou unexpectedly halted, you walked straight into her back because you were so entranced by the beauty of everything around you.

"Woah there. You good, Short-Stack?"

At this you nod, and move beside her, before seeing why she stopped. A tall young man with green eyes. His messy blond hair was short on the top and tied into a pony tail at the back of his head. He wore a short-sleeved brown shirt, blue trousers, a short open red jacket with brown sleeves, brown sandal boots with white socks, a black metal headband, a metal pendant around his neck, brown fingerless gloves, red cloth tied around his waist, and leather armor plates over the top of the aforementioned cloth. The clothing he wore was of the style unique to Inazuma, and many golden threads and other minor decorations could be found on his outfit. He gave you a kind smile, and you smiled back at him.

"Ahoy, there!"

At this you and Beidou both chuckle, while Paimon continues to admire her surroundings. "So, you finally made it, you sure kept me waiting, Captain." He says, turning back to Beidou. "And it appears we have a few stow-always... or should I say, honored guests."

"Hey! Shush!" Paimon whisper-yells. This causes Beidou to chuckle once more with a nod. "You can blame your Almighty Shogun. The tempests around Inazuma have been growing all the more fierce lately. Though the fleet was up to the challenge, the inclement weather still caused some delay." She said, before turning back to you. "Now then, let me introduce everyone. This is Thoma, a trade partner I've gotten to know recently." Hearing this he smiles and nods. "You dont know how long I've been waiting to meet you!"

"And these two are—"

"Oh no need for introductions, their reputation proceeds them! Seems even the stormy seas cant keep the rumors of these Outlanders sterling deeds at bay!"

"Well, nice to meet you, Thoma." You say with a big grin. At this Paimon giggles and smiles as well. "Hehe, its sure nice to hear you say that~" Beidou nods and smiles softly at you. "Ha, with any luck, that will give us a head start here. Thoma has resided in Ritou for many years, it wouldn't be going to far to say that he's the fixer around these parts." Hearing this both Thoma and Paimon looked back at you, their eyes wide in shock. "Us!?" Paimon yells. At this, you nod and scratch the back of your neck, nervously. 

"Well yes, us... I may have asked Beidou to come with us, and she agreed—"

"You... did... what?! Excuse you! Paimon knew Paimon couldn't trust you two together! And now what about Kazuha!?"

At this, Thoma strains to contain his amusement as Beidou clutches her head in frustration and you pinch your temples in irritation. "Paimon, we are both adults we can handle ourselves, and as for Kazuha he agreed to simply stay under the radar." 

"And since I'm coming with, if he try's to make any moves on you, ill deal with him... personally."

"Haha, no need to get all scary now, I'm sure me and the traveler here will get along just fine!" He says. "Good." Beidou responds, with a half-assed and frankly threatening smile. "Then if its all settled, we should get going, don'tcha think Short-Stack?" 

"Yeah, lets get to it, Cap'n."

With Thoma and Paimon following you two, you and Beidou giggle and begin to walk away. You wonder why Beidou had slowed down, before feeling Beidou clasp your hand and entangle her fingers with yours, causing you to flush. As you two strolled, she gently squeezed your hand in a comforting manner. You clasped her hand back since it felt secure, which made her blush slightly and grin briefly. She continued to move forward while smiling, almost imperceptibly.

Because of Thoma's sporadic giggling fits and Paimon's expression when you briefly turned to face her, you were aware that you two appeared to be a pair. You subconsciously drew closer to her, resting your head on her shoulder as you walked, using your other hand to grasp onto her arm while you still held her hand, even if it wasn't helping your position. Beidou was startled and flushed as a result, while Thoma was cooing at you two, and Paimon was nearly furious at the sight of you two until you got to the border checkpoint.

"W..Were here, you dont need to lean on me anym—"

"No nonono, dont you dare. She is tired, and you two are going to sit over there together while I do this for you, understood?" Thoma interrupts her, with a smirk. At this, she blushes harder and nods, going to sit down on a bench nearby before picking up your dozing off form and laying you on the bench next to her, placing your head on her lap. "Hey, your good. Don't worry, you were dozing off so Thoma suggested we rest."

Unknowingly, she started stroking your hair with her fingertips. Because of the softness of your hair and how adorable you were, she was powerless to control herself. You nuzzled your face against her thigh, she jumped a little and turned her head away from you, attempting to cover her flushing face, but you could see it on the tips of her ears, and that made you chuckle.

"You know, for being so flirty all the time, you sure get flustered easily." 

This causes her to look back at you, with a pissed off and flustered expression. "E..Excuse you...?! The nerve..." 

"Hey, were done! Let's get goin'!"

You two stood up once Thoma and Paimon approached you, you both yawning, and the four of you started to go to the location where your applications would be processed. When you four arrived, you proceeded to speak with Yurika.

"You guys should be good, hm?" Thoma says, with a big goofy grin. "Mhm, were good."

You gave Beidou and Paimon a look that Paimon immediately recognized, but Beidou was perplexed, yet she still followed you. You climbed up a hill to a statue of the seven; you grinned and raced up to it, Beidou and Paimon close behind.

"So I'll finally be able to witness how the famed traveler acquires her abilities. This is quite exciting."

When you touched the statue, you felt an electrifying but soothing energy surge go through your body, as Beidou and Paimon watched intently. You turned to face them and opened your palm, causing little electrical shocks to dance in your hands.

Beidou stared in disbelief, her mouth practically dropping to the floor, as Paimon gave a little clap. You closed your hands and nodded before walking away with them, Beidou still perplexed as to how you accomplished it so effortlessly.

A/N: Hiii, I'm sorry i haven't updated in a while and now updates are probably going to be a lot slower for a while because my end of the year tests are in my face. I am not going to make you witness the entire "Ritou Escape Plan quest", so ill probably do a short little recap and get back to the more important parts of the story line. buh-bye. ^^
