A New Leader

'Eww, gross.' Will says when he touches the slimy goo he is now covered in. 'I've always hated this.' He wipes most of the slime off his body, and starts to look around. He was standing in the exact spot he had just left, except this time he was in The Upside Down. It's dark and white particles are flying in the air. Then a loud screeching sound comes from above. Will looks up to see thousands of bats flying above the house he's standing next to. 'Wow. Are they able to hurt me? Like last time?' He asks.

No, last time you came as a surprise but they know you now

'Okay.' Will says. He looks back down and in front of him is a little gate that lightens the side of the house which he had opened. 'Should I close it?'

No, not yet

'Why not?'

You know why

'Oh I get it, you want to have some fun for them later.' Will chuckles.

Exactly

'All right then.' Will agreed. He properly places his bag on his back and begins to make his way toward the scary, vine-covered house's front door. Will pushes open the squeaky door and enters. Will tries to not touch the vines when he sets foot in the house. But as soon as Will stepped inside the house, the ground-covering vines split apart, creating a clear path to the stairs.

Will looks at surprise to the vines who had made the clear path for him. 'Okay...?' Then he starts to walk to the stairs and when he sets his foot on the first stairstep, the vines again made a clear path for him. 'Why are they doing that?' He says.

You'll soon learn the truth, Will

Will sighs and makes his way up to the attic much easier now there are no vines in his way.

'There we are.' As he drops his bag, he says. He notices a sizable hole in the wall as he scans the area. "Why's that there?"

It is from your friends attack

'Damn, they really struck you hard. How on earth did you manage to survive that?'

A little bit of luck, and..

Through the part of you that is inside of me, correct? Will adds.

Yes

Your very smart Will, you know that right

'Hmh.' Says Will. He opens his backpack while stooping to his knees and looks inside for a certain item. 'Damn it, where is it.' He says searching. Will then flings his backpack upside-down, causing all of his belongings to fall on the wooden floor. 'You're not going to say I left my polo in the basement. God damn it man.' Will says frustrated. He leans back and studies the items that are laying on the ground.

He then notices his pocket knife tucked somewhere beneath his pencils. When they relocated to California, Jonathan gave it to him. Will always carried it with him in case someone ever attacked him or tortured him the way the bullies in Hawkins did. But right now nobody was there to attack him but he quickly leans forward and grabs the pocket knife and claps it out.

He moves the knife to his right shoulder and makes a little cut in his blouse. Will puts the knife back down and rips off the sleeve of his right arm. He ignored the fact that his right arm was now completely exposed and covered in dead skin. 'That will do it.' He says happy while holding the sleeve. He wraps the fabric around his eyes, and ties it on the back.
