As I register what jennie just said, my lips part in utter shock and I focus my attention on the woman standing in front of us. Her face remains pale as a small smile plays on her thin lips. Grey eyes shine underneath the big lashes as she stares at Jennie, black bangs falling over her forehead.

"Hi honey." She takes a step closer, her smile growing but Jennie seems to be in a trance as she continues to stare at her.

But I see the way her fingers curl into a fist, the colour leaving her face as she turns pale, the movement of her adam's apple as she gulps but her eyes never leave Hailey's face.

When I notice that Hailey takes it upon herself to close the distance, I take a step forward, "she has a restraining order against you, in case you're forgetting."

She frowns at me, "And who are you?"

"It doesn't really matter," I glare at her, "You need to leave, you're not even supposed to be here."

"My jail period terminated, so did everything else." She tries to argue, looking at her daughter.

Jennie looks like she has seen a ghost so if she thinks Jennie is going to defend her, she has lost her mind.

"That's not how law works. Your jail period might have been terminated on good behaviour or whatever shit, but the restraining order is still applicable."

"Ruby, you're just going to let her disrespect me like this?" She looks at her.

"Don't call me that!" She finally snaps, glaring at her as she takes a reluctant step forward, her arm coming around my shoulder as she pulls me to herself, "Leave now. Before I call 911."

Her mouth falls open at Jennie's words, "I would leave right now, but I'm not going away that easily." She tells her before turning around to leave.

As soon as she's out of sight, I pull Jennie away from the entrance of locker rooms because almost half of the team would be out any time. I take her down a secluded hallway and when I'm sure we wouldn't be disturbed, I look at her.

"Jane.." I step forward, reaching to touch her cheek but she physically flinches away, making me drop my hand as a knot twists painfully in my stomach at her reaction.

"Tell me that she wasn't there." She looks at me, her eyes pleading but I just shake my head.

"I'm sorry." I bite on my tongue, "I'm so sorry." I whisper and she lets out a laboured breath.

"She has at least three more years of jail time." She mumbles to herself, her hands roughly tugging at her hair as she continues to stare at the ground. "I want to go home."

"Okay. Give me your keys." I hold my hand out and she scowls at me even further.

"I can drive." She argues but I shake my head, not letting this one go.

"You would be rash, I know you! Now, keys." I nod my head towards my hands and she lets out a grumble before pulling them out of her pockets and giving it to me. "We'll go down this way so we don't run into anyone, cool?"

She nods as we start walking down the secluded hallway but I don't reach out to her hand out of the fear of her reaction. But even when she's walking by my side, it feels like she's so far away in her own head. The distance isn't there physically, but it's clear in her eyes as we get out in the parking lot and she slides in the passenger seat of her car.

"Lily!" I hear Jungkook call my name and mutter a curse under my breath when I see him coming running my way.

But a part of me is glad that it's just him and not the whole group. I can still handle him alone, but not everyone all at once. When he reaches me, his hair are falling over his forehead and he catches a breath, so I offer him a small smile, wanting to get away from school as soon as possible.
