A Blurry Night
Chapter 22!
November 1996 - The Morning
Albany stirred in her sleep, her hand rubbing at her nose she snuggled down on the couch. Her hand reaching for the blanket her fingers curled around something plastic, the sound of rustling broke the silence of the room. Her eyebrows furrowing she slowly opened her eyes, her gaze was met with a white plastic sheet with colourful spots on it. She had no recollection of what happened after the office party, her memories were fuzzy. She remembered Secondo offering her a drink and Terzo sending her to her room, she recalled talking to Copia on the stairway. She groaned to herself while she moved, she should have listened to her Father about the no drinking rule. Her thoughts were interrupted by a hand slipping over her waist, she froze when she felt someone pulling her close from behind. Their body pressing against her own she felt their warmth, she heard the person muttering something. Peering over shoulder she saw Copia sleeping soundly, his head resting against her shoulder he snored softly. Her eyes grew wide, she had no idea how she had ended up in this situation. Her hand slipping over his own she patted her fingers against his hand, licking her lips she whispered to him.
" Copia, are you awake?" She asked.
Copia reminded motionless, he continued to snore. He looked comfortable and cosy, his fingers curling around her hand his thumb brushed against her skin. Albany watched him sleeping, he looked peaceful for once. But her thoughts soon turned elsewhere, the feeling of dread soon washed over her. Panic filled her mind, she had no idea if anything happen between them last night. Carefully pulling the plastic sheet away from herself she looked down, she was fully clothed. A sighed of relief escaped her lips, her worse fears were soon eased. Her hand slipping from his gentle grip she reached for his wrist, she moved his hand from her waist, she slowly sat up on the couch. Her gaze wandered around the room, she was in the lounge on the fifth floor. Swinging leg over the edge of the couch she ran her fingers through her hair, her head was throbbing. She noticed three empty wine bottles and a half eaten bowl of spaghetti on the coffee table, they must had found the vintage bottles of wine Copia had told her about last night.
" Oh no..." She muttered.
Slowly getting to her feet Albany rested her hand on the arm of the couch, she wobbled slightly before she stood up straight. She felt dizzy and unsteady on her feet, she immediately sat back down on the couch. Her face resting in her hands she whined, she felt awful. The couch creaked and moved beneath her, she heard Copia stirring in his sleep. She looked at him over her shoulder, his mismatched eyes were staring up at the ceiling. Their gaze soon met, he sat up on the couch and leaned back against a cushion, he looked a little hungover. His hair was unkempt and his beretta was missing, his cassock was crumpled and unbuttoned. His fingers running through his hair he yawned loudly, his voice soon broke the silence between them.
" This is not good..." He groaned.
" How did we end up here?" She asked.
" I think you wanted to play a game." He replied, he pinched the bridge of his nose and closed his eyes for a brief second. " I know this one, it was the ummmm Twister. Yes, that's it! We found the game in the wine cellar. You said we should play it because it's now Friday, then you said you were hungry. I cannot remember where we got the spaghetti from..."
" That would explain the Twister mat then." She said, her gaze focused of the coffee table. " How much did we drink last night? My head hurts, I can't think straight! Is that a plate of pineapple and cheese sticks?"
" Yes, you got them from the office party." He replied.
" I did?" She asked.
" Yes." He replied.
