27 year old Kaylen took a deep breath and rubbed her temples. She couldn't believe what her boyfriend was telling her. She was hoping that he was telling a joke but she knew he was serious.
"What do you mean you're not going to be home Kameron? Our anniversary is in a few more days!" She yelled in disbelief.
"I know baby but I'm not done handling business over here in Paris. I thought I'll have everything handled at a quicker pace but everything's going slower than I thought" He said softly.
She closed her eyes and sighed. "But you promised me tomorrow would be our day and that we'd spend time together. I hadn't seen you in 2 weeks, and I'm tired of face timing and speaking on the phone. I need you next to me." Her voice cracked and she felt herself getting a bit emotional.
"Bae, please don't cry. Daddy's sorry aight? I promise I'll make this all up to you ma. Stop crying. You know I don't like to see my princess cry"
She sniffed and wiped away her tears with her fingers. "It's going to be our anniversary soon, and I just feel like you don't even care", she said sadly.
"Don't say that bae, you know thats not true, ofcourse I care...You know I care, why would you say that?", he asked softly.
"It just feels that way sometimes Kameron."
He sighed. "Princess, you know the nature of the business. You think I want to be up here speaking to these sweaty neck motherfuckers than with you? I tell you what, as soon as I get down there next week, I promise to make it up to you---I'm all yours...we could do whatever you want bae, I promise."
"Okay", she wiped more tears from her eyes.
"You're gonna be strong for me?" He asked.
She sniffed. "Yes"
"Good girl"
"I just miss you so much but I know it's not your fault you have to work". The tone of her voice was full of sadness as she stared down at the carpet. "And it's our anniversary, just wish I didn't have to spend it without you"
"I know bae. Believe me I know", he said softly.
By the tone of his voice, she knew he was disappointed in himself for letting her down on a day that was so special between them; their 6 year anniversary.
"Listen princess. I have to get to this meeting. I'll make it up to you. I promise I'll be home next week, okay?", he said.
She sighed. "Okay"
"You love me?"
"You know I do"
"I know but I still want to hear you say it Kaylen", he said in a serious tone.
"Love you too Kammie", she said, using the nickname that only she called him.
"Princess why you playing with a nigga"
"What?", she laughed, playing dumb.
"You forgot the I. You ain't slick"
She laughed. "EYE love you Kammie"
"Okay now that's better. You go fuck around and umma have to give you some act right when I get back over there", he warned.
"Is that a promise?" She flirted. She absolutely loved being punished by Kameron.
"Keep on playing with me man", he laughed, "But I'll call you back when I leave the meeting, okay?"
"I don't want to get off the phone with you", she pouted. She waited all day to hear his voice and now they're about to get off the phone when they've only been speaking for 20 minutes.
