Tara's pov
We sat down on the cold floor, our legs on top of each other, my fingers knotted through hers as I looked at her in silence. My body was still pulsing with ecstacy. Darcy's eyes were relaxed as she raised her free hand to caress my face. I pulled her fingers to my lips and kissed them gently. The simplest things were beautiful with Darcy, cuddling with Darcy in silence was the best time of the day for me. Sometimes it made me wonder if Darcy and I were the only two people on the planet, would we even need a language?
"I think we should get up now," Darcy said, smiling at me in that same dreamy way. I nodded.
She stood up and gave me a hand. We held hands as we walked out.
"I don't wanna be here anymore," I said, as we reached the blaring music again. What were highs like this in comparison to the highs Darcy could make me feel?
"We don't have to be here," she said, "Wanna come over to my place? For a change?"
"Yeah," I said, bobbing my head to the music.
"We will have to go through the window though," she said, but I persisted, "It's okay."
We went to Darcy's place, giggling and bumping into each other. In hindsight, being this loud on the streets in the middle of the night in dresses was not the safest thing to do, but we reached Darcy's home safe and sound anyway.
Darcy glanced into the windows, then opened one of them. She was about to climb inside but she stopped midway. She turned back and whispered, "That's George's room."
"You don't know which window is yours?" I asked in disbelief.
"I do," she jumped down, "it's the next one," she said and this time she was right. She went in effortlessly, but getting me inside was a bit of a struggle. We both died laughing as Darcy tugged at my arm. I made it after a few failed attempts.
"Finally," I breathed with my hands on my hips, trying not to be too loud.
"That was one hell of an adventure," Darcy whispered, getting out of her outfit, "No way I'm wearing another dress in this lifetime. Want something comfy to wear?"
"Sure," I said, looking at her as she rummaged through her closet. She brought out an oversized hoodie and some sweatpants for me and a large t-shirt for herself.
Before I could get into my clothes, Darcy walked up to me and hugged me from behind.
I smirked, "Tryna seduce me?"
"Maybe," she said, her voice muffled by my shoulder. "Fuck these clothes, let's cuddle in the blanket."
"Yeah, who the fuck created clothes anyway right?" I said. I felt Darcy smile in the crook of my neck. She slipped her hands onto mine and suddenly froze.
"Where is my ring?" she said. I turned around as she pulled her hands away from me and inspected her fingers.
"No idea," I shrugged.
"No, no, no," Darcy said, picking up the dress she had been wearing, "Fuck no, I can't lose it."
"It's no big deal," I said, trying to calm her down, "We will get another one."
Darcy shook her head vigorously and dropped down to her knees searching the floor.
"Darcy," I said, as I looked around the room as well, "stand up. You're gonna catch a cold."
"I can't," she said, sniffling, "I can't lose it. It means so much to me."
"Hey," I put my hand on her shoulder and Darcy sat down on the floor, shaking mercilessly, "I'm so sorry, Tara. I swear I did not mean to lose it." She was crying at this point.
