Jisung was so late, It was so late that the sun barely lit the streets of Seoul. Even when Jisung walked up the hill and down. 'Shit, I'm late.' Jisung checked his phone, nearly eight thirty, he had to hurry up, he had stayed back talking to his friends at school, planning to chill with Minho tonight and look at him now. His house was past the woods of Fox Hill. The woods were welcoming during the day, flowers blooming and birds singing, a frequent place for hikers and families seeking a bit of nature for their everyday life.
But at night, however...
The branches looked more crooked and the leaves shivered from invisible spirits passing by. Once a mortal walks in, they never come back.
Jisung lived in Malaysia, he didn't grow up here, until recently for a better education at high school. Hence, he now lives with his grandma in Korea. But thanks to her fables of goblins and ghost coming out to eat bad little boys, he'd had never dared to set foot inside after nightfall. He had moved to Korea at fourteen, so ever since fourteen, he'd be afraid of forests, especially Fox Hill.
"Late again, Han Jisung." An old woman sat outside the restaurant called 'Shin Menu'.
Everybody had called her Halmeoni in the neighborhood. She was the oldest person there and claimed she had stop counting her age long ago. Even Jisung didn't know, he'd always assume she's older than eighty.
"It was a long day, Halmeoni." Jisung said, placing his school bag on the ground.
"Studying or playing?" She smirked, she sat on a red wooden deck and peeled chestnuts and garlic into a bowl. The scent was strong and fresh, it stung Jisung's nose.
It was true, he was studying but that's not a Jisung Classical.
"Playing." He grinned. "Always."
She clicked her tongue. "Of course." She said, plopping a piece of raw garlic into her mouth. Jisung hated it raw, even though his own Halmeoni said it was good for his health. Still, when Jisung's Halmeoni held out her hand, he dutifully accepted the raw peeled clove of garlic.
"You should start heading out to Minho Hyung's house now, it'll get late."
Jisung's eyes widen, how'd she know that?
"How do you know that? I didn't even tell you!"
Halmeoni chuckled, "I know everything, Jagi. A Halmeoni knows everything. Make sure you eat dinner at Minho's."
Jisung smirked, coming up with a funny response to lighten up the mood.
"When are you going to make me the happiest man on earth and agree to marry me?"
"Your sliver tongue is going to get you into trouble one day." His Halmeoni had made a comeback. Jisung winked at her humor. "It already has. Many times, over."
Halmeoni's had smacked his ass lightly. "Stop stalling. You have to go to Minho Hyung's and do your project with him." Jisung signed, she was right even though the two had planned just to chillax together, Jisung just lied in order to see his friends on a school day, His Halmeoni was very strict on going out on school days. Unfortunately, Felix had to have a family meeting with his family. While Seungmin and Jeongin had date night out tonight at a fancy restaurant, they would of brought the rest of the friend group if it wasn't for how expensive it was.
Jisung nodded and bowed and crossed the street. Minho's house wasn't that far, just a few blocks and crosses and he'll be there in no time!
It took a while, but Jisung was able to make it just before sunset. He had opened his school bag for the extra key that Minho had kindly lend him. Jisung slipped silently into the one story house. He knew that he had to be quiet. Minho's father wasn't friendly to visitors.
