OPHELIA BAUDELAIRE-HUGHES MUST ADMIT, BEING AN UPPER EAST SIDER WAS the life she was gifted at birth, something many yearned for in their lifetime. Lavished with luxurious gifts, getaway trips to Monaco and Paris and Milan, wearing only the finest clothes she could dream of, Ophelia couldn't ask for anything more perfect.

However, when it came to growing up with a clan of pretentious teens, drama and scandals circled them like an eagle scoring the land for its prey. Secrets would never be kept close to the chests of those most privileged when Gossip Girl was around.

Relationships, friendships, even familial bonds were always known to those who roamed the Upper East Side. That was partly the reason Ophelia was so adamant on keeping her friends close, and her enemies closer. She was always aware of the prying cameras spying on her when she moved about the streets of New York, who whispered secrets into the ears of others so menacingly it was enjoyable, and who was a fake, and who was a true friend in the midst of it all. Ophelia was particularly good at that.

Growing up with someone like Blair Waldorf made it so easy to pick up on certain techniques and skills. Blair taught her everything she needed to know when she bloomed into her teenage years, and when Serena Van Der Woodsen eventually joined their duo, forming it into trio, the three girls were the epitome of the Upper East Side. Girls around New York would, frankly, cut off their arms to be one of the three girls. And Ophelia revelled in it. In fact, she shimmered in the sparkling diamonds sprinkled over her when she woke, and the glasses of martinis she sipped before laying down to rest.
