LIKE EVERY FRESHMEN AROUND THE COUNTRY, the pressure was mounting and forcing down their shoulders as the prepped for the annual SAT. The best tutors around the country were hired, only the most proficient of standards for the stress that caused an ache between their shoulders and a pounding headache for the oncoming weeks.

Ophelia Baudelaire-Hughes would not settle for anything other than perfection. Her parents had paid a substantial amount of money for her tutors, and left her alone for the majority of the time, with her thoughts and the information that threatened to leave her head at any fleeting moment. She was determined to ace her exams and was confident in her abilities — but there was always an inkling of doubt in her mind that told her she'd fail tragically.

She was sat in the courtyard with Blair and Serena in silence, each of them calculating their potential scores of the SAT, panic rising in their chests at the idea of not getting their desired grade. Ophelia simply knew she'd do fine, but if took her mind off anything that was necessary, then she'd hate herself for feeling like she hadn't done enough.

"Twenty-two hundred. Fair," Blair announced, looking down at the calculator with disappointment in her eyes.

"Blair, that's good," Ophelia complimented, baffled at Blair's tone.

"Yeah, that's ninetieth percentile," Serena chimed in.

"Which means Nelly Yuki probably got twenty-three hundred," Blair snapped back, her bitchiness levels having risen because of the stress of exams.
