Second Person POV:
You woke up to the smell of bread and pie. You looked around seeing you alone in the bedroom. You got up and walked out of the bedroom, seeing total chaos. You saw Archer on the phone, multitasking, he was trying to talk to whoever was on the phone, talk to Lottie, adding seasoning and aromatics to the turkey, and trying to keep Duke away from it. "But why do I have to stay here!? Why can't I go with my friends!?" Archer would sigh towards the phone, "Hold on," He looked at Lottie, "Lottie, It's Thanksgiving when all of your family will be here. At least spend a few hours here with us, then by sundown, I don't care where the hell you are. Hell, you can be in a ditch, as long as you hang out with us by sundown I'll let you go be with your friends. Okay?" Lottie nodded, "Okay..." Archer sighed going back to his phone call and prepping the turkey. "Beth! How many times do I have to tell you that the security guard was trying to search you not grope you!" You sighed smiling, Beth, Archer's sister. She...Was an interesting person. It's been maybe four years since you've seen her. Archer didn't really want to do thanksgiving after Lacey's death, but I suppose it's been enough time to grieve... Archer set his phone on the counter after he washed his hands. You looked around slightly confused, "Where is Milo?" You looked at Archer asking. "He went to go get wine..." You paused looking at him. He's in a wheelchair. All by himself. Getting wine? "Don't worry, I sent someone with him." You nodded watching him put the turkey in the oven. He shut it and washed his hands. "Why didn't we do thanksgiving the last four years? I mean, I know I wasn't here, but not even Aunt Beth posted Thanksgiving photos." Archer sighed looking at her, "A friend of mine died and I didn't want to do Thanksgiving without her." "Four years ago? That's a long time to-" Archer interrupted Lottie, "To grief? Never. We, as humans, aren't that great at dealing with death, We tend to be in denial and not acknowledge the truth, which is sad, Death is a painful reality. It takes loved ones away from you, you can never see them gain. It's okay to be sad. It's okay to grieve. I think...acknowledging the pain of loss and sitting with it despite the discomfort is the quickest way to accept it. Being told "move on" doesn't quite cut it. But you learn to live with it. Feel lucky they were a part of your life. Just...don't get drowned. I still have moments of grief, but I try my best, and continue on. I have you, Y/N, and Milo...You're all idiots, but bless their souls. I don't know what i'd do without you all...We have to stick together, the ones left." You looked at Archer supprised, Lottie looked at him with her eyes wide. "Damn...I didn't ask for that much information." Archer shrugged, "Maybe you'll use it when I'm gone." He turned around and started finishing the gravy. "Lottie, how about you go get dressed up, huh?" She slowly nodded walking away. You decided to get ready as well.
Archer's POV:
I stared into the gravy. I wish I didn't have to do that... I heard the doorbell go off. Must be one of the guests. I walked over and opened the door. I felt my eyes widen when I saw her. "Lacey..?" I asked, hearing my voice crack. She looked at me nervously. "Archer..." I looked at the guy behind her, he wasn't too happy. "I...Remember what you did." She said staring. "I'm so sorry Lacey-" "How is sorry going to fix anything!? You tried to kill me! I almost died! I thought we were friends!" I looked away from her. "It was a hard decision... I don't expect you to forgive me or even remember me after this...Just...Please don't do anything rash or harmful to yourself or others. If you are still that sweet girl, I beg you to please, be careful with yourself." She looked at me for a second before shoving a wine bottle toward my chest, causing me to hold it. "I'm already pregnant so, Happy Thanksgiving." She said storming away. I intentionally grabbed the guy by the shoulder. "Was it you who did that?" He looked at me surprised, "She's only kidding. She likes to imagine she has a family and is a mother." I furrowed my brow, "If she is telling the truth, you better take care of that and never. Never leave her." He looked at me nodding, "I don't plan to leave her for some stupid reason. He followed her all the way to the car. I watched them drive away.
Third-Person POV:
About...Three hours later, people started showing up. Beth, Milo, Laney...Wait, Laney? That's Lottie's daughter, so if she is here then...Lottie stared at Zane, furious the moment she opened the door. "Why the hell are you here?" She yelled. "I was invited." Zane said calmly. "Who invited him?!" She yelled. "I did!" Archer yelled back. "Why the hell-" "I wanted to see my granddaughter. I'm sure you two would pretend to like each other for even five minutes." He said taking the turkey out of the oven. Everyone at the table sat eating turkey and mashed potatoes. Lottie and Zane were sat right next to each other. "Why do I have to be right next to him..." Lottie said staring at Archer. "Put up with it until sundown." He said sipping his beer. "I hate you." Lottie whispered to Zane. Zane smiled sipping his wine. "I hate you more." The dinner went on with Lottie and Zane quietly fighting while Milo, and Beth got drunker and drunker. Milo less than Beth. Sweet Laney was eating turkey while dancing in her chair, happy as can be. It kind of reminded Archer about how happy Lacey was when she was eating turkey. Everyone but Archer left the table and went to the couch to watch the game. He took all the plates and put them in the sink. He went to get the glasses, seeing Duke on the table, taking what was left of the turkey. I hurried over, causing him to run outside with the turkey. I groaned going back to wash the plates. I washed the plates hearing something run towards me. Small hands grabbed my pants leg. "Grandpa!" Laney said crying. I looked down at her. "What's wrong, Angel?" She rubbed her eyes, "I don't know where mommy or daddy are!" I washed off my hands wiping the water on my sweater. "C'mon, sweetie...I'm sure they're somewhere around here." I picked her up and walked around the house looking for one of them.
Second Person POV:
You decided to walk around the house looking for Lottie and Zane to help Archer. Everything just seemed to be bad for him so, you wanted to make him feel better by helping. You walked around the kitchen looking in the pantry, and looking around the bathroom, seeing nothing. You sighed walking back to the table. They were nowhere to be found. Archer had slightly drunken Milo watch Laney while he looked outside. You walked over to the table looking for your glass, Archer must have put it away. You looked at the table noticing it was moving slightly. You lifted up the tablecloth seeing Lottie and Zane under the table making out, but with, more hand movements. "Fuck...I missed you." Zane growled getting on top of Lottie. You let go of the tablecloth feeling your face burning. You walked outside seeing Archer. He looked at you, and he could just tell by your facial expression what had happened. Laney ran over smiling at you two. Archer held her hand and looked at you. "Why don't we go to McDaniel's? Then sweet Laney can play in their play area, and we can enjoy some cookies." He smiled. "Sure." You smiled shutting the door behind you. "Yay!!" Laney giggled as Archer picked her up.
