Sweet Nothing (A leon draisaitl fic)

Just wanna remind ya'll that this is fiction, the only characters I 'own' are scarlett and her teammates, a few of them being named after my actual friends lol enjoy this long and wholesome chapter!

"Bowie come here bud" leon says holding the back door open. Bowie comes running inside and I put his harness on him before giving him a couple treats. "I'll put everything in the back, do you wanna make us coffee?" Leon asks.

I nod "on it" I answer going over to the kitchen. He takes his suitcase out to the car and I start brewing us coffee. While I'm standing there my stomach growls so I make a couple bagels too.

We woke up at 6am and it's almost 7, we're aiming to leave at 7:30 or 8. I've offered to start off the driving but leon has insisted on driving the whole thing and letting me play passenger princess.

After we figured out that we're road tripping instead I started planning the route and our stops, but if it doesn't go as planned I won't be annoyed. Things are bound to happen. My phone starts buzzing in my hand so I take a quick look.

My moms calling on facetime.

"Hey mama" I answer. She smiles "how are you?" She asks. "Good! Leon's loading the car and we'll be on the road soon" I answer. "That's great! You're looking so happy" she gushes. Because I am. I'm the happiest I've ever been.

Leon comes back in while I'm talking to my mom and he stands beside me "oh hello leon" my mom says. "Hello" he replies waving. I believe they met briefly when the moms went on the road for a couple games but that was before I was with leon.

This time it's different. A good different.

My mom and him talk for a little bit before we hangup and then quickly have our coffee and bagel. "You ready?" He asks. "We've got our phone chargers right? And bowie has toys too? And kibble?" I ask. "Yes babe" he answers.

I nod and let out a deep sigh "okay let's go" I reply putting on some comfy shoes and one of my zip up Oilers hoodies. I know my brothers will roast me because they're still leafs fans but I don't care.

"You're brave for wearing that in Toronto" leon says looking at me. "I'm a proud sister and girlfriend" I reply smiling. He smiles and kissing the side of my head "you look good in orange and blue" he says. "You do too, and grey" I respond. His face turns pink and he smiles "thank you" he whispers.

Damn. He is so cute.

Half an hour later we're in the drive thru line at Starbucks, the stanley cup safely in the trunk and bowie laying on my lap with his head on the middle console.

3 hours later we're in Saskatchewan, the coffee kicking in for both of us so we're singing along to the playlist made just for the road trip and bowie has his head out of the window.

I take a quick photo of him and find a cluster of photos I've taken over the last few weeks and I post them on Instagram.
