When I wake the first thing I think of is how hot and sticky the atmosphere is. I blink and my vision materialized, me and everyone else cramped in this shelter, me sat leaning against one of the walls, Andrew’s head resting on Daisy’s shoulder. I turn away from them quickly and start to shake Luna awake.

“What is it?” She asks groggily.

“The shelters. How do you make them?” She sits up and yawns.

“What, do you want to help?” Ouch.

“Yes, and I’d like it if you didn’t sound so surprised.” She giggles slightly at this.

“What did you and Andrew get up to?” She asks.

“Well, first of he was mad and I fell into him cuz I was mad too- “

“You fell into him?” Luna asks, truly laughing now.

“Yes.” I say. “Anyways he asked why I did it I said I didn’t know, I stormed away, end of story.” I stand up and Luna just stares at me, silently laughing.

“I’ll teach you how to make it later, when everyone’s up. I’m starving.” She adds. As she says it my stomach rumbles.

“And by the looks of things you are too.” She stands up and examines Andrew and Daisy.

“I wish my phone worked- wait- we haven’t checked yours yet!” Her face lights up with excitement.

“I don’t have my phone. My mum didn’t let me take it.”

“Well then screw your mum!” She yells and Andrew makes a start sending Daisy muttering gibberish.

“Why are we yelling?” He looks at me then Luna, his eyes narrowing.

“I thought Harriet had her phone but of course she’s such a teacher’s pet that she followed her mum’s orders and doesn’t have her phone!” Luna can be extremely hurtful when she’s in a rage.

“Woah, woah, woah, easy…” Andrew says. “Harriet is not a teacher’s pet-“

“Yeah, and that’s because you love her-“

“Hey!” Says Andrew, a slight blush creeping up his face. “I am not and Harriet knows that perfectly well. All I’m saying is that Harriet is not a teacher’s pet, I’ve never seen her act sensible in her life.”

“That’s because you never see her speak properly! All you see is her jabbering trying to impress you! And yes Harriet, that is truly what I think of you and it is the truth!” She storms out, any happiness we had shared before broken. Andrew stares after her, hopeless and then he turns to me, blushing.

Daisy is paying full attention now and everyone is starting to wake up.

Oh, please stop blushing Andrew! But as I think it, I begin to blush too and when Andrew sees he starts to blush even more. By the time everyone’s awake, both our blushes are so ferocious that people start making assumptions immediately.

“You’ve had your first kiss!” Courtney says excitedly, toppling over into Daisy stupidly.

“I swear I saw flirting!” says Daisy, lying to agitate me.

“What have you been talking about?” Says Jazz with a grin on her face and voice.

“Nothing!” I say angrily.

“Luna just stormed off and, no, we haven’t been doing anything!” Andrew’s blush increases when he says it and my cheeks are burning, why is Andrew so bad at convincing people?

“The funny thing is as much as it may seem like a lie, he’s actually telling the truth.” At this there’s an uproar of chatter and people claiming that I’m such a bad liar.
