"Gabriel Ymir, it's starting to rain! Let's go baby!" Loki called when several drops splattered down on the cement next to them. Gabriel had been playing with a couple other children, and also noticed the raindrops. Carter stayed on the bench, and Loki got up and met him halfway.
"Do we have to go?" Asked the little one.
"Yeah baby, you don't want to get all wet do you?"
"His father once let him stay out, because we all were out here, he got all wet and caught a cold." Said Carter appearing silently next to Loki.
"Oh really?" Loki scooped Gabriel up in his arms, and he hugged Loki's neck.
"Yeah."
"Bet that was fun."
"No." Gabriel said, and Carter smiled sympathetically.
"Come on, time to go." Loki said and they made their way with quick steps back towards the tower. As the rain quickened, other parents and babysitters started to beckon their children towards them to retreat under shelter.
"-Really should have brought an umbrella," Said one mother they passed who was walking with twins, two older boys, and a toddler who was a girl. Both of them were struggling to keep her pace as they were at least a foot shorter than she was, three young kids ran towards them, only one actually looked like said woman, the other two were obviously just friends of the son, one a girl the other a boy. "I told you all not to stray far from me! I couldn't find...." Her barking got drowned out as the three of them hurried home and the rain spatter began to fall faster.
"Oh lord!" Carter said as droplets landed on her forehead and nose. "I am not getting my shoulders wet! No sir!" She put a hustle in her step, and Loki laughed as they got closer. When they arrived into the Stark Tower building, Carter rolled her shoulders.
"What was that?" Loki asked when he set down Gabriel.
"What?" She asked looking at Loki.
"Not wanting water on your shoulders." They began to walk towards the elevator.
"Oh, I just don't like the feeling of it. Dreadfully uncomfortable."
"Do you not like the rain?"
"Oh I love the rain!" She said as they boarded the elevator. Loki clicked their button and Gabriel looked at their feet. "Gabriel do you like the rain?"
"Yes Auntie."
"Loki do like rain?"
"Oh yes." Loki said. (He and Tony had once got caught outside and they were so drenched that not even an almost hour long soak in the tub made them feel warm, after that it was a few days of sniffles and the shakes for them. And that was on their Honey Moon too.)
"Pappa can I go take a nap?"
"Do you usually nap around this time?"
"Yeah," Gabriel rubbed his eyes and Loki grabbed his hand and led him to his room, "Pardon us for a moment, Carter."
"I'm thinking I'll take a nap too," She put her hands on her hips and Loki looked back at her. She smiled and wandered off towards her room. "See you two in a bit!"
"Alright, have a good rest, Carter!" Loki called back. Gabriel was sitting on the bed with a drowsy look, and Loki helped him get his shoes off.
"Do you want to come sleep with me in my bed?" Loki asked as he got Gabriel's pajamas.
"Yeah." Gabriel raised his arms and muttered something.
"What?"
"So-big."
