Wonder

It was the talk of the town
You put my name on the map
Picture of us on the billboard

Questions were asked
People wondered
Strangers whispered
Skeptics stared in confusion
Feigned smiles on unfamiliar faces

That girl with the boy
Unprecedented and absurd
They told you we were a match
Made in heaven
Then they ask me in secret
What is the secret

They only knew me as yours
For without you
They wouldn't glance
Let alone smile

They wouldn't think
Let alone wonder

But I know
Before anything

Before I was yours

You noticed me
Back when I was mine
