1) Tell us a little about yourself
Hi Y'all, my name is Natalie, I'm a millennial Fan fiction writer (for now) from Houston, Texas. I'm very passionate about DrPepper, and I will never ever shut up about Harry Potter and the MCU.
2) What's your favorite author? Favorite book? They can be from Wattpad or elsewhere.
Easy! My favorite author is Sarah Dessen and although I have many favorite books, my all time favorite has to be Twilight. I was twelve when I first read it. It's what changed the game for me and really the reason I even got into reading. I find myself rereading it every year and it honestly always feels like I'm reading it for the first time.
3) How long have you been writing?
I have been writing for a little over 8 years. I think I was junior when I started.
4) Why you do write? What's your inspiration?
Honestly? I don't even know why I started writing, I was never great in English class. I use to find it really boring, but I started and I never stopped. Perhaps it's because i would read others fanfics and I thought why not try because sometimes I wanted things to go differently and really just about anything can inspire me. Even country music.
5) What's your preferred genre?
I'm a sucker for Cheesy Romance!
6) What was your first written story?
I can't remember the name, but it was actually a Vampire Diaries fan fiction on FanFiction.Net.
7) What's your writing process?
I always always always start with characterizations. If I don't know my character, then how can I tell their story?
8) What are your current writing projects? Can you give us a teaser?
I'm currently working on an original book that I think not only means a lot to me, but I know will touch the Latin community. It's a story that follows a high school teenager who has to deal with her mother being deported.
9) Do you have any unpublished stories? If so, why and do you ever plan to publish them?
As of right now, I have 34 unpublished stories...I checked. The real reason why I haven't published them is because I'm insecure. I care too much about what people think and not to mention, I don't think they're good enough... Yet.
10) As a writer, what's the most challenging aspect?
Aside from writers block, it's putting everything together. I can have the plot written. I know what will happen at A, B and C to get to D. But it's writing the in between. The details. Sometimes I don't know what's good enough or if it is even enough.
11) Where do you see yourself in five years?
I usually don't think about stuff like this because I tend to freak myself out and I always self sabotage. I always manage to find a way to ruin things for myself and I can't help it. But five years from now, I hope I have stopped writing fanfics and actually start publishing all my original work.
12) Do you have any tips for aspiring writers?
Just write it down! Any little idea that comes to you, write it down! Type it in your notes. Write it down! I mean It. Write the story because even if you give up on it after a few weeks, I promise it will be useful in the future. You can always come back to it or maybe mix it with another idea. Also, never delete/ erase them. Please don't-from personal experiences, I don't know how many times I've cried and have thrown my laptop (yes, I actually use to throw it).
