George

I hear Dream on my phone down the hallway. I'm not sure what to do, he said not to get up but I really want to. He sounds nervous and curiosity gets the best of me and I stand. Dream hangs up as soon as I walk over.

"We gotta go" he says urgently.

"What where?" I ask.

"Sapnap's place" Dream replies, standing up and swiping his hoodie off the couch.

"Why?" I say. "He just left"

"No time to explain" Dream says, opening the door and gesturing for me to leave before he does.

I half run, half walk outside, my ribs aching a little. I get into the passenger seat of my car, safely assuming that Dream wants to drive. He does, turning on the engine and skidding backwards down the driveway and speeding down the street. I can't imagine why he's driving so quickly in a drive that takes as little as two minutes. Dream was very vague in his explanation but maybe something has gone wrong. I sit there confused as we fly past trees and people walking their dogs along the streets. Dream parks the car on the side of the road and gets out, following me up the driveway and to the door. He opens it first and we walk into the dining room which is unrecognisable. Glasses are knocked over or sideways on the floor and two of the chairs have fallen over. Sapnap's mother, Rose isn't moving and a broken glass rolls quietly beside her. My eyes fly wider and I look further around as Dream runs down the hallway, not seeing her.

"What may I offer you?" I hear his cold voice and I peak around the wall to spot a stranger and him staring at each other. "Tea? Coffee? A swift kick in the dick perhaps?"

I flinch as he really does kick the guy and he falls over with an exhale of pain. Dream's hands are shaking and I walk further down, reaching the door but not bringing myself to see if Sapnap is okay, nervous to what I might find.

"Mess with Sapnap you mess with me you motherfucker" Dream snaps. He walks swiftly inside and I hear Sapnap speak. His voice floods me with relief but I turn around and jog back to Rose who is still unmoving.

I crouch down and roll the bottle away from her head, feeling a sudden sticky substance cover my fingers. I look down in horror and blood covers my hands.

"Rose?" I ask quietly. "Hey wake up"

She murmurs something that I don't understand. I hear small and quick footsteps run down the hallway and Sapnap appears, unharmed and his face a mask of worry. Rose rolls over so she's on her back with a small groan of pain. Sapnap rubs her on the shoulders.

"Mum?" his voice is so fragile it hurts me to listen. She smiles slowly, her eyes glassy as she opens them.

"Hey Sap"

"Mum we need to get you to the hospital" Sapnap says with a cough. "Can you stand?"

"Honey it's okay, just get an ambulance and don't worry about driving me" Rose says softly. "Although I'd like some water if that's okay"

Sapnap runs to the phone and dials triple zero and I rise and get a glass out of the top cupboard. Dream materialises from the hall and helps Rose to sit up against the table leg. She holds her head and after removing her hand it's glossy and red. My hands are shaking as I give her the glass of water and she drinks it slowly.

"Thanks George" she says and places her non-bloody hand on my knee. "But you guys should leave now"

"The ambulance and police will be here in two minutes" Sapnap reports from a few meters away.

"Police?" Rose asks, her voice croaky. "Why police?"

"You really don't remember?" Dream asks.

"Not really" Rose says. "I remember falling with a very bad pain in my head and then nothing after that"
