Dream

"Let's go."

Sapnap is telling me off for being late on our trip. It's been three weeks since his mother went to hospital, a lifetime for him, waiting to see if she would be okay. Rose was in fact doing very well, alive and back home, letting Sapnap borrow her camper-van for a short five day trip with me, George, Tommy, Wilbur, Tubbo and Quackity. A trip only Sapnap, George and I had planned but decided that it'd be nice if they tagged along too.

I hurry inside the hulking figure of the van, filled with old music and laughter coming from Wilbur, Tubbo and Quackity sitting down at the table. Tommy is splayed across a mattress on the floor, his head resting on the tents that the others had brought for the campsite. A trip to remember is what Sapnap always said. It would be fun. I slide into the passenger seat of the van and spot Sapnap fiddling with the GPS.

"Do you need help?" I ask. He looks at me incredulously.

"Let me try... one second," he says, pushing a green symbol, making the map move in. "These are stupid, it's new technology apparently but still."

I look at the little arrow symbol on the dusty screen, our location I suppose. I drag my eyes down, spotting the destination.

"George's house?" I ask. Sapnap nods.

"Yeah."

"You know the address, don't you?"

"Of course I do, I just wanted to try this thing out."

"Uh huh."

He ignores me and keeps driving. The sun shines, the rays hot on my face as the car turns right, slowing to a stop. Sapnap sighs, pulling his phone from his pocket and throwing it back to Tommy. Tommy swears and walks to us, poking his head between the gap of the two seats.

"The fuck was that for?" he asks.

"Call George, tell him we're in his driveway," Sapnap says.

"Hey you didn't call me," I protest. "Just yelled from your window."

"Dream, you're..." he pauses. "You're just yourself so of course I did."

I sniff. "How insulting."

"H-hey George, this you?" Tommy stammers. I hear the slightly robotic response of 'yes'.

"Yeah it's me, Tommy," he continues. "Sapnap says to come out and get in the van, we have some candy."

Sapnap spits, taking the phone off him and leaving Tommy in hysterics.

"I didn't say that," he says. "Just come out please, I want to get to the campsite before I grow old."

Three beeps and a gasp.

"He hung up on me that prick."

I smother a laugh and see George appear from the doorway, holding a suitcase. He smiles and waves at Wilbur who opens the door and helps carry his luggage inside. George climbs inside and closes the door gently, Sapnap reversing and driving again. I sigh, tapping on the screen which shows the roads around us.

"How far is the campsite?" George calls from the back.

"Like 2 hours?" Sapnap phrases it like a question. I can almost feel George's shocked eyes on the back of my head. "It won't be long, go distract yourself with Alex and Wilbur. They're playing cards."

"Just call me Quackity," Alex calls. "I like it better!"

Sapnap nods and turns up the radio. Whitney Houston's new song I Wanna Dance With Somebody plays and I immediately begin to bob my head to the beat. Wilbur requests windows down and so I oblige, winding mine down and letting a fresh breeze steadily flow across my seat and into the back. I hear Wilbur's sigh of relief. Tommy exhales loudly.
