3.rain and regret

Taehyung curses as it starts to pour out of nowhere. He never does his own groceries and even when he does he's never alone. Today he had too much on his mind, so he walked to the nearest grocery store in hopes of clearing his mind but of course, it had to rain and he had to be drenched.

He runs till he reaches the dorm, shivering and preparing to get his ears chewed out by his hyungs. He knows he's in for a long scolding when the first thing he does when the door to the dorm opens is— sneeze.

Soon he's surrounded by everyone and everyone is saying something along the lines 'you should have waited till the rain stopped' or 'I told you to take an umbrella but you never listen' and then there's Jungkook, slowly rubbing his hair with towel, trying to dry it as quickly as possible and sighing when he shivers.

It's hilarious and heart-warming to see six grown men fuss over a seventh grown man as if he were a drenched helpless puppy. He snorts at the thought and receives glares. This is the moment, he thinks, he's gonna get scolded but Jungkook doesn't let that happen.

"Hyung lets get you a change of clothes" he says and drags him to his room.

Taehyung changes his clothes, hair still wet. He picks up a fresh towel to dry them  but it is snatched by Jungkook.

Jungkook doesn't say anything, just pushes Taehyung on the bed, making him sit on it and gets between his legs. He starts drying his hair again and Taehyung looks at Jungkook. Just looks at him, observes the furrowed eyebrows, he knows the younger wants to say something.

"Just because I saved your ass back there doesn't mean you won't get it from me. You could catch a cold and you could get a sore throat next." Jungkook says he is concerned, he knows how upset Taehyung gets when he has to miss practice. He doesn't want the elder to suffer in any way.

But Taehyung can't focus on his words, his focus is on his mouth, the way his lips move, how close they are, so close that he can feel Jungkook's body heat and after all the shivering and cold he just wants to bury himself in the heat, he knows Jungkook is always warm.

He is snapped out of his thoughts when he feels Jungkook's hands on his cheeks. His eyes widen as he snaps up to look at Jungkook.

Jungkook has a confused pout on his lips.

"Hyung, I think you have a fever, your cheeks are all warm and red."

Taehyung grabs both of Jungkook's wrists and pulls his hands away from his face, he didn't even realise he was blushing. He gets up, gives Jungkook a wide smile, that looks awkward in every aspect, too crooked, eyes crinkled forcefully and starts pushing Jungkook out of the room.

"I think we should both rest, Kookie,I will be alright, don't worry, thank you for helping. Good night." He says as he slams the door and rests his back against it. He feels weak in his knees. What is this that he is feeling? Why did he blush? Why is Jungkook still so gentle with him?

'I'm just confused I'm sure because friends don't stare at each other's lips and blush.' He tells himself. It'll all be fine when he sleeps.

Jungkook sighs on the other side of the door. Taehyung still feels uncomfortable around him, he should have known, there is no other reason to shove him out of the room. Taehyung doesn't want to be around him and it breaks Jungkook.

'I should have never confessed' he thinks 'I have made it worse for both of us', 'Taehyung hyung doesn't think I'm worthy of his love' with all these thoughts plaguing his mind he tries not to cry as he curls in his bed. It hits him harder some nights, how he can never be with Taehyung and that the older doesn't love him. Taehyung just sees a friend in him or worse, he sees him as a little brother.

With these thoughts invading his mind and remaining unaware of the fact that Taehyung is confused about how he feels, sleep finds him.
