10. Hurt and Misunderstood

The sound of glasses clinking and muffled chatter fills the air along with the delicious aroma of food.

Taehyung and Jimin are sitting in a corner, away from the eyes of people. Taehyung is picking away at his japchae, while the other days after practice he would stuff his face today he just can't seem to get things off his mind. Things as in Jungkook looking at their choreographer with stars in his eyes. Taehyung was so sure Jungkook only had those eyes for the members, for him and for ARMY, guess that's not so true anymore.

Jimin notices this of course, he's been noticing the changes in his best friend's behaviour and how his relationship with Jungkook has changed over a few week's time. He sighs, he can't just keep on ignoring this, he's given Taehyung enough time to sort things out on his own but it seems like the younger is getting nowhere near sorting anything.

"Taehyung-ah, why are you not eating?" Jimin asks softly, "Is something bothering you?" He adds.

Taehyung just shakes his head and smiles a little at Jimin "It's nothing, I'm just tired, Chim."

"Tired of what? Don't you dare say 'practice' Kim Taehyung, I know it's not work that's stressing you out, be honest with me." Jimin says all this with so much seriousness Taehyung has no choice but to tell him the truth, even though vaguely.

Taehyung just sighs before saying, "I've been feeling so restless for the whole day, I don't like it, what's worse is I don't know what this feeling is or what it means"

Jimin considers the situation for a minute before asking, "When did you feel it? Or did you feel it throughout the day?"

And for once Taehyung is completely honest, "I felt it when Jungkook smiled at the new boy as if he was fucking Iron Man."

Jimin smiles a little at the irritation in Taehyung's voice, he's happy that Taehyung is being frank with him. They've not kept secrets from each other, not many, anyways but Jimin understands that even best friends can have secrets that need to be kept from each other.

"It's simple then, Tae, you were jealous." Jimin looks so fond right now, seeing his best friend explore new feelings they've never had time to feel because the only thing driving them was that they need to become successful.

Taehyung considers it and the more he thinks about it the more it fits: jealousy, that's what it was. But then he's confused again, so he asks Jimin, "Don't you feel jealous only because of people you like? You know, like, romantically?"

Jimin shakes his head, "That's not true, I would be jealous if you get a new best friend and we're not romantically involved, jealousy can include many aspects."

Taehyung knows it does but what Jimin doesn't know is that he's attracted to Jungkook. Or so he thinks because in reality the whole of bangtan has been watching their youngest ones pining after each other and being oblivious, so much so that they sometimes just want to rip their own hair out, the other times they want to make them both sit in front of each other and tell them 'you both like each other, now talk and date and become boyfriends or whatever' but they know it's only going to hinder in their relationship. The members want them both to figure it out on their own.

"Maybe you're right, Minnie, maybe I was just jealous, you saw it too didn't you? The look he gave Jisung? It was as if he was the best person to exist in the whole world."

Jimin nods "That he did."

"Do you like him though? Jungkook I mean." Jimin asks.

And Taehyung looks like a deer caught in headlights, eyes wide, startled at the sudden question and scared but also a little blush starts to form on his cheeks that gives Jimin the answer he was looking for. Taehyung tries to form an answer but words seem to have lost him, so, Jimin takes pity on Taehyung and tells him it's okay if he doesn't want to answer that yet.
