the rays of the sun kissed her soft cheeks, not a cloud in the sky all in all you could say it was a perfect day, but not to her this day was anything but perfect, the person that made this day to be perfect was not here.

" happy birthday PARAI" a soft giggle left her lips as she placed the coffee and fresh cream doughnut in front of him.

" well it would have been your birthday if you weren't in such a hurry, you kept saying how you hate birthdays but I think you secretly liked them, normally I would have jumped on the bed first thing in the morning to wish you, and you would have asked me what nice must do for a birthday, we all know that you would have wanted to have a braai, you would make me take pics of you, you would always joke and say we should use it for your memorial, you would also say your time is coming near. but last year you said nothing, you just smiled and said thank you when we wished you, we were so excited that you lived another year, you were invincible that's what we thought, but you were in a hurry weren't you? now today I did not run into your room, today I did not tease you, today I did not hear your laugh, today I did not see you sit on your favorite sofa shaking your leg in excitement, no today I woke up to emptiness I wanted to dread this day so bad but how can I? when this day was special cause it was the day my favorite person had been born? kiraan had made it his duty to be here with her as he knew how important this day was at first he was reluctant since he felt it was a personal bond that he should not interfere with but Kirti had insisted that he had to meet her grandfather cause his blessings was what mattered the most.

" hello uncle Ummm" he looked puzzled at the moment feeling dumb for not asking Kirti her grandad's name

kiraan laughed he knew she was not exaggerating from the things kaar had told him placing a soft kiss on her head " I'll meet you in the car okay?" Kirti nodded gratefully for the privacy he was giving her.
