Xyla POV

We sat in the hospital, as she slept peacefully. They did say that she had an allergic reaction. Which was evident. But they didn't tell us what was the cause.

this is our baby eighth time going through this. I'm starting to think maybe we should just do allergy test. It's crazy that they literally offered it to us this time, but never any other time.

"Hey mom and dad."

"Hey." I smiled.

" OK so we were maybe thinking dad from with you guys today she is in fact allergic to soy. So with that being said, like you guys requested we can do through allergy test. Because from her charts, it look like she is allergic to a lot of things." I nodded. " I definitely think that would be the best option to avoid situation is like this."

"Yes, we want to do." Jaime looked at me and I nodded.

" OK let me get that in and get that started for you guys and we can go from there. Is there any more questions that you guys have?"

" yes... This is something we actually have been talking about. She sleeps so much. We don't feel like it's normal." I said.

" yes, her sleep patterns are very abnormal and she sleeps the whole night and then she is still sleeping so much during the day. And even though we want to stop her from sleeping so much, we don't know where is stems from, so we play it safe and just let her sleep."

" how many hours would you say that she sleeps throughout the day?"

" I would say maybe 18 around those hours. Because she sleeps all night like maybe 12 or 10 hours and then she has hour naps during the day. She woke up from her nap and she was having allergic reaction. She was sleep for almost two hours. She would've slept longer than that if it didn't mess with her breathing." She nodded.

"From what I am hearing right now I would say that it is Hypersomnia, or hypersomnolence. Which is excessive daytime sleepiness which is also known as EDS. Which means, a lot of people with daytime sleeping disorder, they often lack a lot of nighttime sleep, people with hypersomnia sleep excessively. They may sleep 10 or more hours each night but are still able to sleep so much doing today. The condition is rare in children but it's definitely a thing."

"Okay is there any cure to that."

" we can start from where it may root from and then go from there. I can see that she's speaks to one of our child therapists here. You guys can start by having this conversation with her therapist and I feel like that's where you will get your best answers but for right now if you want to try something immediately which I wouldn't suggest, just schedule her. And with me saying that I mean put her on a sleeping schedule, keep her up during the day, avoid caffeine, avoid things like that. But keep her up and active during the day, keep her awake and then allow her to crash out and then start her sleeping schedule over." I nodded.
"she may be very fussy, because a lot of this sometimes comes from childhood trauma, which is probably still recent for her because she still a child. Maybe she was in a situation, where she wasn't allowed to sleep, and threw her sleeping schedule off work and she lack a lot of sleep and now that she's comfortable and she feels like she's in a safe place starting to take advantage of that. As in sleeping all the time. While it is a great thing that she finds that safety in you guys, it will start to affect her day to day life. She will start sleeping in class, she will lack an attention span and things of that sort." I nodded.

" And sometimes it gets to the point where it's hard for her to wake up, she wakes up in a confused state. She doesn't know where she's at and things like that."

" yes all of those symptoms fit into what I was saying. But since it's more of a psychological problem, I will say speak to her therapist. I am saying this in no way, shape or form you trying to brush you guys off, but I feel like she's more advanced in that area. And she can give you a more accurate solution and diagnosis."

" we completely understand and we thank you for what you have done so far." Jaime waved her off.

" I just don't want to lead you guys on the wrong path because I don't know her... her situation you know what I'm saying? we don't have records of it because it's confidential and that's between you and the therapist." I nodded.

"We understand thank you." She nodded and walked off.

"Your mom was right." He nodded and he sighed.

" she loves cereal so much, we gotta figure out what milk she can have." I laughed.

" you really pay attention to the wrong shit." He laughed.

" that is how we bond, big city greens and cereal." We laughed. " how about oat milk?"

" we can ask." He nodded. " do you think we should just wait for the therapist to give us orders?"

" I feel like that is the best bet. Her oversleeping right now is not doing harm to us. We can wait a little bit. at least she's eating now." I nodded.

Jaime POV

"It itch." She frowned up her face.

" I know baby but you cannot scratch right now. It's all about to be over." Xyla rubbed her free hand soothingly. " When we go home we are going to watch Luca and eat Chinese food." She nodded.

"No shrimp." Xyla laughed.

"No shrimp baby. Good job you remembered."

"I am done, I don't wanna do this anymore." She whined softly.

"I know I am sorry baby." Xyla sighed and I stepped up.

" baby we are just trying to see what you can eat and what you can't. We need to see what you're allergic to so we can keep you away from it. I know you don't want to keep coming back to the hospital do you?" She shook her head. " OK so this is something that we have to do in order to protect you. Do you understand?" I asked and she nodded.

"Yes."

"You will be down soon." She nodded. " just relax, don't think about it think about what you and mommy are talking about OK?"

"Okay." Xyla looked at me and I shot her a smiled and she giggled.

I ain't gonna lie I feel like she is definitely more open to me flirting with her. She is slowly starting to be able to receive my affection. She is definitely trying to be more affectionate, but she has to start by allowing the affection. She is definitely making progress.
