THE CHESHIRE CAT
DRIVING along the empty roads surrounded by trees and foliage, Hayden had her elbow rested tiredly on the window ledge, head in palm, staying silent as her mother and Rory complained. Their mood had certainly soured after hours of driving with no destination in sight, nor people thanks to Lorelai's only rule: no maps.
At least Hayden had front seat privileges after her hospital scare.
Lorelai groaned as she leafed through the pocket in the drivers side door "Ah. No music. I can't believe we forgot to bring tunes."
Rory leant forward from the back seat "Do you realize that nome of us has the vaguest idea where we are?"
"What is a road tip without tunes?" Lorelai ignored her before glancing to Hayden "Check the glove box, will ya?"
Hayden sighed but did as told while Rory looked out the window "The sun is directly behind us."
"Nothing." Hayden confirmed her mothers worse fears as she closed the glove box and sat back "We're tuneless."
"Never been in this car for any extended period of time without playing AC/DC." Lorelai grumbled.
But Rory wasn't focused on their music situation as she continued to look out at the sky "I have no idea which way it's going."
"I need my 'Highway to Hell'." Their mother complained.
"Aren't we on it, already?" Hayden muttered, returning her elbow to the window ledge "Sure feels like it."
Lorelai sighed "There's nothing on the radio but Top 40 and Christian Rock. Christian Rock, there's an oxymoron for you. I need my tunes."
"Stop complaining about the tunes!" Rory scolded.
"Stop complaining about our whereabouts!" Lorelai shot back.
