Ashka Benson had been one of the lucky ones. She did what her coworkers and even most of her family members told her was impossible. Regardless, she played the lottery faithfully each week. Her faithfulness paid off one night as she was watching the news for the lottery numbers. It turned out she'd won a multi-million-dollar lottery. She'd never have to work again if she didn't want to. She could pay off all her student loans and any other loans and bills she had. She would be comfortable the rest of her life. Once her family learned she'd been the big winner of the lottery, they all started bugging her about loaning the money. She knew it was a bad idea especially since those asking never paid her back when they borrowed money before. Yet now they were asking for large sums of money?!
After much debating with herself, she opted to move across the country away from her family and start fresh. Giving her boss her two weeks' notice which surprised him, she began packing up her office. Most people wondered what had happened but she just smiled and said she was moving on. She didn't feel the need to explain the situation to anyone. Instead of packing up her house herself, after she decided where to move to and finding a house she liked out there, she paid movers extra to pack her house up for her and make the long drive out to California. She and the realtor had faxed papers back and forth during the two weeks she still had at home until all the paperwork had been completed for her new home in the quaint little town she'd chosen for herself. It was a fresh start where no one knew who she was or that she'd won the lottery.
The moving process went way easier with others packing up and moving her house for her than she had expected. Once her two weeks were up at her firm, she put the bags she'd packed herself into her SUV, a 2018 Metallic blue Ford Escape, and set her GPS to the realtor's location in her new town before setting out on the long journey to her new home. She'd have to get the keys to her new home before she could officially move in. It took her two days of driving to get to Charming, California and she had to get a hotel when she arrived because it was late when she arrived. It didn't bother her at all as she got settled into her hotel room. She took a nice, hot shower, changed into her PJ's, and then settled into her bed to watch a little TV before drifting off to sleep. Her family didn't understand why she felt the need to move away from them. Ashka felt the distance would help keep her family from bugging her about money. At least she hoped!
The next day, she packed up her bag and checked out of the hotel. Her first stop of the day was to the realtor's office. She needed to get the keys to her new house still. They greeted one another cordially as they went over the paperwork one last time to make sure nothing had been left undone before the realtor handed the keys over to Ashka. The young woman thanked the realtor before taking her keys and heading back out to her SUV. She programmed her address into the GPS and headed off to start getting settled. The moving truck would be there soon and she wanted to be prepared for them when they did arrive. It didn't take her long to find her new house.
