February 27th
"So where are we going?"
"You told me you wanted it to be a surprise as long as it was a nice one"
"Is it?"
"I should think so"
"Okay..." Steve looks at him warily.
"Come on" Eddie grabs his hand and tugs him out of the front doors to his apartment building.
"Wait, we're not driving?" Steve looks confused as Eddie pulls him in the opposite direction of his car.
"We are, well I am" Steve looked even more puzzled. Eddie tugs him towards the parking garage and presses a button on a little remote he had attached to his keys which opened one of the doors. There stood a shiny black and red motorcycle.
"You got it fixed?"
"Yeah" Eddie grins at his bike.
"I've never ridden one before" Steve says, fingers running gently over the smooth metal of the gas tank. He also felt like a complete idiot because of course they would have been taking Eddie's bike, he had his helmet in his hand. Steve opened his mouth to tell Eddie he wasn't getting on it without one but Eddie was already unlocking the small cab on the back, after placing his helmet on the floor.
"Here" Eddie says, offering Steve the helmet, okay it made more sense now why Eddie had insisted on Steve wearing one of his other leather jackets. Other than how good he looked in it.
"Hold on, I'm... these are gonna be really uncomfortable" He starts to take his hearing aids out but Eddie stops him for a second.
"Okay, if you can't hear me, if you need me to stop, anything, you gotta tap twice okay?" Eddie motions to his waist "Cos you'll be holding on anyway" Steve nods and removes his hearing aids, tucking them into the little case he always took out with him just in case he needed to take them out. He puts them in the inside pocket of the jacket along with his glasses in their case.
'Handsome' Eddie signs and Steve blushes.
'Thank you' and Eddie grins in return. He helps Steve on with the helmet, clasping the little strap underneath and doing up the popper before putting his own on and repeating the same actions with practised ease. He climbs on and points at the little foot pegs indicating where Steve needs to put his feet. Steve nods and climbs on after Eddie, throwing his leg over the bike and wrapping his arms around Eddie's middle.
He turns on the ignition and the bike roars to life and Steve jumps, Eddie squeezes his hand and gives him a thumbs up which Steve returns and then suddenly they're tearing out of that parking garage like a bat out of hell and Steve has never felt so scared but exhilarated in his entire life.
Jesus this was fun.
They sped down the highway, weaving in and out of cars and other traffic, Steve felt like he was flying and he couldn't help but grin as the lights flew past. It was cold as shit yeah, but it didn't matter because Eddie ran hotter and he was clinging to his back like some sort of koala bear and he was warm.
After about twenty minutes or so Eddie slows down, turning off into some smaller streets and eventually pulling into a parking space outside a restaurant. Well no, it's more of a pub, Steve thinks. But there were signs outside advertising live music and food and all sorts of other things and it looked really homey, if a little garish with all of the neon signs.
"So what did you think?" Eddie asks, then realising Steve couldn't hear him. Not over the traffic and the music coming from inside the bar "Sorry" He sighs, he can see Steve's reading his lips and he smiles, nudging Eddie gently with his elbow. He waits for Steve to get his hearing aids back in and tries again.
