It's time, time to start getting ready for school. I've wasted a lot of time I must admit. Things like this should be done weeks in advance.
But hey, I'm just a bit lazy that's all.
Right now I'm tired, I'm tired of watching the clouds lazily move across the sky. I'm done with having everything and everyone have a place in the world but me.
Sure, I don't have the right to feel like this, to think this way but I do. And I'm tired of feeling lost, school starts in a little less than 48 hours and everyone around campus looks full, energized, and ready to battle whatever's thrown at them but me, I stay sulking.
I stay sitting on my balcony overlooking the looking the school with a silly little smile on my face. Yeah, it probably looks creepy to onlookers but can you blame them?
But isn't it better than having to look at a sulking face on one of the best days of the year?
Everyone is getting prepared for the winter, today might be the last day of the year that the weather is this warm and it's 63 degrees out here.
The thin blanket I have wrapped around me sways as a sudden cool breeze blows. I gently tug it closer to my body and tuck it under my legs to keep me warm and prevent it from blowing away.
It's a nice day though, I guess. Everyone's going out to get their hair and nails done. A few walk around with the signature colour for fall, Red.
Every year around this time I'd think of getting it done too but then I see how good everyone looks and know that someone *cough *cough Elizabeth will have something to say about it and I guarantee you that it won't be positive.
Standing up, I walk back into the room spotting Aaron's camera lying on the bed.
I stand there looking silly wondering if I should do something I know I'll regret moments later. But still, like every other time in my life, I make the wrong bad decision. He won't like it I know he won't.
For all the years I've known him he's never let anyone touch his cameras. He isn't usually like this. Careless I mean. this specific camera is quite literally always hanging off his shoulder at school.
I feel the cold nip at my skin and once again tighten the blanket around me.
"I shouldn't do this," I say trying to talk myself out of doing it but soon realize that no matter what I'll still end up doing it. He won't notice, right? Certainly, he doesn't check his camera roll often. It'll probably be months if not years before he realizes that someone used it to take a picture and who knows, by then he won't have a clue who did it.
With a deep breath, I take a step towards the bed leaning down to admire the beauty. The shiny black surface and the spotless lens attached to a brown strap adorned with his favourite yellow flowers, call out to me and I reach for it making sure to be extra careful.
The last thing I want is for it to fall, especially when I know how much it means to him. I don't think he cares for anything or anyone more than he cares for his cameras. Maybe it's a bit sad but his cameras were there for him when nobody or anything was. Some of them he's had since he was living in England, back when his father was drowning in work and his mother was trying hard to take care of their family's affairs.
I pity him and his childhood just as much as he pities mine. He was proof that having loving parents wasn't enough. Our stories made me decide long ago that I would never have kids.
The camera weighs heavily in my hand, I move it around admiring its every detail spotting the small print of a terrible drawing of a sunflower, it looked familiar, I wouldn't be surprised if it was one of his drawings. He was known to be the worst artist out of all of us. Elizabeth as much as I'd like to downplay her talents was an amazing painter. Her paintings made me love paintings but I'd never tell her that she's already too egotistic.
