Only Hope [SDR2 Komahina]

Part Three: Sunset

After few more minutes of Hinata getting dragged by Komaeda, they ended up at the beach house by the 2nd island. They went behind the house and sat on the sand to watch the sunset. Hinata felt his heart thumping in his chest and butterflies fluttering in his stomach. This was his first time to watch a sunset with someone, other than his parents. He would probably never forget this day, ever.

"The sunset looks so beautiful, right?" Komaeda suddenly said, making Hinata snap out from his thoughts.

"Y-yeah, it is." Hinata said then his cheeks were slowly turning into a light pink color.

There was a peaceful between them. Both of them didn't say a word or even bothered to break the silence. They just silently watched the sunset together until the sun completely descended to the horizon and it became dark.

After the long silence, Komaeda decided to break the silence by "accidentally" releasing a cough then Hinata turned his head to his coughing companion.

"Are you okay? Do you need water?" Hinata asked with concern.

"No, I'm fine. I just want some attention from you." Komaeda chuckled then Hinata groaned a little.

"What do you want?" Hinata asked.

There was another silence. However, not another peaceful kind of silence but a very serious one. Komaeda looked at Hinata with seriousness in his face while trying to look for his eyes in the dark. Hinata was waiting for Komaeda to speak but at the same time, Hinata was scared by the sudden change of Komaeda's attitude.

"What's up with people changing their attitude? First was Monokuma then Komaeda..." Hinata complained in his mind.

"Hinata." Komaeda whispered, making Hinata snap out from his thoughts again. "Ever since I've met you by the beach, I felt something weird. I wasn't sick or anything but after all this time... even with all the strange events happening to us. I realized that I like you since the very beginning. No, let me rephrase that. I love you since the very beginning." He said while looking down at the sand.

Time stopped for Hinata and Komaeda, like nothing else is moving except them. Hinata tried to process everything that is happening.

"D-did Komaeda said he loves me? Is that true?" Hinata questioned in his mind.

"Komae-" Hinata was about to say something but he was cut off with something on his lips.

"Huh?" That was question that popped up Hinata's head.

Hinata felt something soft on his lips. Then he finally realized that it was Komaeda's lips on Hinata's lips. He felt that there were fireworks shooting out and sparks flying from his heart and his stomach was doing flips. But something felt weird for Hinata, like something doesn't feel right.

When Komaeda finally pulled away from the kiss, Hinata and Komaeda's cheeks were now in a shade bright pink. Hinata's mind was still hazy from that kiss.

"Hinata... do you want to be my only hope?" Komaeda asked.

"Is he asking me to be his b-boyfriend?" Hinata asked in himself.

Hinata's head was getting bombarded from that question. His first reaction was to say yes but he thought about something and it was the others. He didn't want the others to think that both Hinata and Komaeda are gay. They might make fun of them, hurt them or even murder them.

"I-I... I'm sorry." Hinata said then got up and ran away from Komaeda.

Hinata ran from the distance, away from Komaeda. He didn't know that tears are falling from his eyes to his cheeks. He didn't know where he was running but he was running away from the beach house or even from the 2nd island. He looked back to see if Komaeda was chasing him but there was no sign of Komaeda. But all of that running and tears, he felt a lot of guilt. Hinata was worried that Komaeda would think that why would Hinata date someone like him or he shouldn't kiss Hinata because he is worthless.

After all that running, he ended up by his cabin. He opened the door and got inside. He sat down on his bed for a while before a familiar tune rang throughout the cabin.

*Ding dong, bing bong*

"Ahem... Hope's Peak Academy's School Trip Executive Committee has an announcement to make. It is now 10:00 p.m. Please return to your rooms and relax. Let the sound of the ocean gently rock you to sleep. Now then, sweet dreams everyone. Good niiiiight..." Monokuma said with his usual high-pitched voice, signaling Hinata to get some sleep.

With tears remaining in his eyes and on his cheeks, he laid down on the bed and fell into another restless sleep.
