"How many copies are you trying to fax? We only could do 40 at a time" I explained to my older client and her son. He's been all in my face and wanting my attention, he needs to help me help her understand because we've been here discussing the same thing for about 25 minutes. I'm not bothered by it or anything but at least be helpful if you're here taking up space.

"Grandma how many papers you need her to print?" He asked her in a simpler way. She thought about it for a second before answering.

"I just need about 25. The office staff isn't that big" She told me with a warm smile. I returned the smile as I started putting in all her information into the section that requires it. After everything was read over, I hit the fax button and got up to go get them from the fax room. I came back with a black folder with all her papers inside.

"Here you go ma'am. I hope everything is to your liking" I told her before she took the folder out my hands. She looked them over and gave me a thumbs up. She smiled and they both were on their way. I looked at the time and it was 3:30, which means it's time for me to go. I've been here since 8 this morning, all I want is some food, maybe a spliff and my damn bed. My phone started ringing, I looked at the screen and seen it was my father. I got happy because he's been working like crazy because the holidays are around the corner, I don't blame him.

"Hi dad" I answered with a smile as if he could see me.

"How you doing? I miss you Kiki" He told me.

"I miss you too dad you know that, I'm okay I'm about to leave work" I told him.

"That's good. I was off today thank goodness, say uh how would you feel about your mother coming down here for my family reunion?" He asked me. I made a face as I put on my jacket on and locked up my office.

"Dad it don't be me. The last time we've spoken it ended badly because she was more so interested in how you were doing and more so what you were doing rather than talking to me. I'm an adult now, it's certain things she's going to have to understand and get accustomed to" I told him truthfully.

"Completely understand. Well I can't even speak to her about that, which I shouldn't even have to. I'm tired of speaking about it to a grown ass woman too but we can't do anything for a person that's sadly going to always be stuck in they ways" He said.

"It's not fair to the people around her to just have to accept that, you guys have 3 kids together and this is the outcome of it? Y'all arguing left and right and her not being on good terms with damn near all her children? Something gonna have to give" I said growing frustrated about the situation by just talking about it.

"I tried .. I really did, but back to the question. How would you feel about that?" He asked me again. I got into my car and sat there for a minute before turning it on.

"I can't avoid her forever. Besides, I'll be there mainly if not entirely for you anyway so I guess it's fine" I told him as I turned my key in the ignition.
We talked for the rest of my ride home.

"I thought you liked it. Why you wanna leave?" My mother asked on the other line.

"I do. I wasn't talking about anytime soon, mostly likely after this school year is over" I replied. I still was in the school because I had to stay for a meetings for the new comers. It was finally over so I officially have nothing to do.

"Why though? Is it a specific reason?" She questioned.

"Honestly, it's the pay. At first when I did my calculations and everything I thought it would be enough all year round but it's not. So now I'm assed out on staying here for the whole year" I explained to her.
