You slowly opened your eyes and tired to adjust them to the lightning of the room. Bek, at your side, was out like a light, as ironic as it was. You would let him stay in your house sometimes to escape from the lectures of his older brother, Rex.
Rex, unlike Bek, only appreciated perfection and only perfection. He considered all change as 'something their father wouldn't have liked' and he would try and keep everything as it was when he left. Of course, he didn't succeed, as his younger brothers felt the curiosity to explore the worlds they had created alongside their father.
And that was Rex's problem. He saw humankind as weak creatures that ruined everything the 7 seven divines had created with much effort and saw them as a bad influence for his younger brothers. But every divine had a way of seing mortal beings. Bek, for example, was amused by them. In his eyes, they were strange but at the same time, he wished to be like them, to live a normal life like anyone on earth.
But that wasn't possible, especially because of Rex restricting him from doing any human activity. He shook in his sleep as his thoughts were heavy. 'Why can't I be like any of them? Why can't I live a tranquil life? Why do I have to follow his goddamned rules? Im sick of it...' He thought. He shook again, this time covering himself with the blanket properly.
You let him sleep and walked to the kitchen to make some breakfast. You made some waffles, since you figured Bek would like the sweet taste of them. You heard footsteps louder and louder each time as they approached your location, and suddenly two strong arms with red markings on them wrapped you in a soft hug from behind.
Bek groaned sleepily, placing his head on your shoulder and closing his eyes in the process. "Hey, don't fall asleep on me! You're heavy!" You exclaimed between giggles. Bek chuckled softly as his grip on you tightened. He groaned again.
Ever since Bek started to sleep in a human bed, he would feel sleepy after waking up. He was starting to learn the human customs and he already had the art of sleeping half of the day mastered.
"What are you making?" He asked, moving his head up from your shoulder. The soft smell of freshly baked waffle filled his nostrils. "It's a waffle, I figured you'd like it since it's really sweet" You smiled. You took a piece from one of the waffles and move it closer to his mouth. Bek didn't hesitate on biting it. As soon as he felt the flavor in his mouth, his eyes went watery. "This is delicious!" He exclaimed.
You laughed as you looked at him devour the rest of the waffle. You ate some breakfast too and looked at your phone. You didn't have to work that day, so you could dedicate your time to Bek. "Maybe we could walk around the city today..." You suggested. Bek nodded with excitement as he made little jumps.
You got ready to go out, taking a shower, dressing up and anything else you needed to do. Bek never needed to shower, but for some reason, he always smelled like vanilla exctract, and sometimes male cologne when he decided to put some on.
You got out of your room and saw Bek on the living room, already in his human disguise, dressed in his typical black t-shirt, blue jeans with black sneakers. His long black and red hair that he always kept in a high ponytail, was now short but it still had the same colors. "Are you ready to go?" He asked in a gentle tone. You nodded and took his hand on yours. His hand was soft and warm, fitting for a being created to be a god.
You walked out of the apartament, still holding his hand. Some of the old ladies from the neighborhood stared at you in confussion as they thought you were dating.
"Let's go to the arcade!" You exclaimed. "Arcade? What's an arcade?" Bek was full of questions but couldn't find any answers. "You'll see when we get there!" You replied.
You walked a few streets further when you saw it. The arcade was wide and was full of neon lights that glowed in the darkness of the place, only lit up by them and the screens of the video games. The place was full of people, parents playing with their children, young couples on dates, lonely people that just wanted an escape from their stressful life... There were all types of people.
You entered, instantly shivering for a second, remembering how cold that place was. Bek's eyes were iluminated by the fuchsia and turquoise lights, and made them look like actual stars, like the ones he created.
He was amazed by his surroundings. He immediately gazed upon the claw machine, full of cute stuffed animals and pop culture character plushies. "Oh no, don't you dare get close to that thing!" You warned. "Why not? Is it murderous?" He asked. "If so, I will teach that thing to never mess with you" He clenched his fists. "No, silly! It's just a trap to lose money. The claw doesn't grip the plush tight enough, so you never get your prize" You explained. Bek seemed to understand as he stopped tightening his fists.
You showed him around the arcade. Playing your favorite games with him as the sun started to set. "I had a lot of fun!" Bek admitted. "Me too! We should do this more often!" You laughed. Bek nodded in agreement.
You finished the day by going to a restaurant close to the beach and returning home. Bek was already laying in bed while you got ready to join him. You put on your pijama and laid next to him. He pulled you closer to him and held you tightly. "I'm so happy when I'm with you" He confessed, out of the blue. "Thanks for giving me the life I always wanted, that I'll always want..." He continued. You kissed his cheek, making both of them go tomato red. "You're welcome. And thank you for making me company" You smiled.
You cuddled close to him and slept comfortably for the rest of the night. Maybe Bek was closer to his dream life than he thought.
