"Damn it!" Killian yelled as he slammed the door behind him. His family again, they idolized Cercie again while he was left in the shadows. Did his studies matter at all? Was it all in vain?

He didn't even care anymore, he just wanted Cercie to feel what he was feeling, to be in the position he was.

"How did the family meeting go, master Killian?" You asked. He anxiously combed his hair with his fingers rapidly. "Like the rest of them" He answered bitterly.

He took off his elegant shoes, fitting for a member of nobility such as him, and threw himself on the bed.

He let go a frustrated groan while he buried his face on one of the many pillows that decorated his soft mattress.

"My half-blood..." He started. "Yes master Killian?" You replied politely. "Can you sit next to me?" He asked, not lifting his head from the cushion that was hardly pressed against his face.

Without answering, you made your way to him and sat. When he finally felt your presence, he broke down in tears. "Am I good enough?" He asked as he lifted his head slightly and tilting it to the side.

"Of course you are. I've never met someone smarter than you! Tell me, did they talk about Cercie non stop again?" You caressed the sobbing man's back. He nodded as no words would come out of his mouth.

"Cercie isn't a clever person, she's a psychopath, a horrible human being. But you're nice and you always try to be a better version of yourself" You continued.

"I guess you're right..." He dried his tears with glove. "Hold on master" You took a small cloth out of your pocket and used it to clean his teary face.

"Thank you..." A sudden knock on the door interrupted Killian as he tried to speak. "Who is it?" He stood up from the bed.

"Hey Killy~ My half-blood is bored, why not let him have a little play date with yours?" His brother exclaimed after opening the door.

"How about no?" Killian remained calm as he spoke. "Oh, come on brother... What's the worst thing that could happen?" His sibling kept insisting. "I said no!" Killian yelled.

His brother's smug smile faded, showing a serious but furious look on his face. "You dare to raise your voice at me? Who do you think you are? This is why you mean nothing to this family!"

The corpulent big brother raised his arm and moved it fast towards Killian, who braced himself, terrified of his older sibling. His eyes were closed and his body was shaky.

He was ready to receive pain, but it never came. He slowly opened his left eye trying to see what was happening.

"Disgusting beast!" Killian's brother groaned in pain as you buried your claws in his strong arms. "I'll make sure everybody knows what you did! You will be sent to the arena and I'll smile as I watch you die!" He threatened.

"I don't care as long as I keep master Killian safe" You replied serenely. "Loyal, aren't you? You piece of filth!" He exclaimed before leaving the room.

Killian grinned at you. "Thanks for protecting me but, would you really risk your life to keep me safe? Am I worth it?" He was intrigued. "Yes, you're the first human that has treated me with kindness. This is my way of saying thank you. If you didn't buy me I would have been killed without a chance at fighting" You hugged him, he returned it.

"We'll have each other's backs now. By the way, you are a badass! I wasn't even able to keep my eyes open!" You both laughed at his remark.

(Time skip)

After dinner, Killian came back to his room tiredly. His brother glared angrily at him the whole time, as if he wanted to rip his head apart with his eyes.

But something was different this time. He knew you were there to protect him and that helped him remain calm as his brother's murderous gaze threatened him.

Killian laid on his bed and yawned. Your bed wasn't more than a pile of cushions and blankets set on the floor. "Hey, you can sleep next to me tonight, if you want" He suggested.

"Are you sure? I'm comfortable here" You replied. "Yes, I am sure" He answered. You crawled out of the tower of pillows and walked to Killian's bed.

He left you some space so you could lay down next to him, which you gladly did. The mattress was soft, it felt like laying on a fluffy cloud.

"Good night, my dear half-blood" He whispered before closing his eyes and falling deeply asleep. You fell asleep too afterwards, but you were able to feel how he cuddled you in the middle of the night. You slept happily knowing that you were safe in each other's arms.
