Cory and Topanga were hosting Thanksgiving this year. While Topanga busied herself in the kitchen, Cory stood by the front door like a watchdog, calling out Shawn’s name every time the doorbell rang.

“Is Dad okay?” Riley asked, raising an eyebrow as she walked over to Topanga.

Topanga smirked without looking up from the mashed potatoes. “He just misses your Uncle Shawn. Desperately. Even though they saw each other, what—two weeks ago?”

Riley glanced over at her dad with a cringe. “Wow. That’s... a lot.”

“You get just as excited when you see Maya,” Auggie chimed in, grinning as he popped up beside her.

Riley shot him a look. “I do not!”

“Really?” Topanga said, crossing her arms and raising an eyebrow.

Riley mirrored her mom's posture defensively. “Yes. Really.”

The doorbell rang again.

“Maya!!” Riley squealed.

“Shawn!!” Cory yelled at the same time.

“You’re not excited at all,” Auggie said, deadpan, as Riley sprinted to the door.

Cory swung it open eagerly. “Shawn!”

“It’s me, losers,” Maya said, grinning at him.

“Maya!” Riley beamed and threw her arms around her best friend.

“We were literally at your bay window ten minutes ago,” Maya laughed, letting Riley squeeze her anyway.

“You’re not Shawn,” Cory mumbled, visibly deflating.

The doorbell rang again.

“Shawn!!” Cory shouted and yanked the door open.

“It’s us!” Amy and Alan chorused from the doorstep.

Topanga peeked around from the kitchen. “Hi!” she waved, trying to sound enthusiastic.

“I am the problem, it’s me,” Amy muttered under her breath to Alan.

“Grandma! Grandpa!” Auggie ran to hug them tightly.

“Hey, girls,” Alan greeted, giving Maya and Riley warm hugs.

“I’m so excited to see what you’ve made for us, Topanga,” Amy said sweetly, watching her daughter-in-law set the table.

Topanga paused, suspicious. “Really?”

“No,” Amy replied with a laugh.

“My whole life,” Topanga muttered as Riley and Maya exchanged knowing looks.

“Riley, Maya,” Alan said, turning to the teens. “Since we won’t be together for Christmas, we’re giving you an early gift.”

The girls’ eyes lit up.

“What is it, Grandpa?” Riley asked, practically bouncing.

“Here it comes,” Alan said, pointing toward the door.

It opened, and Joshua stepped into the room.

“Boing,” Maya muttered, eyes locking on him.

“Not him,” Alan said with a chuckle.

“Her,” Amy added, as a brunette girl stepped inside.

“Taylor!!” Riley and Maya screamed in unison.

“Is it really you?” Riley asked, gently touching Taylor’s cheek like she couldn’t believe it.

“It’s you!” Riley yelled, realization dawning.

“I’ve missed you,” Maya said, pulling Taylor into a hug.

Riley quickly joined, the three of them laughing and clinging to each other like no time had passed at all.
