I never noticed how much we acted like a married couple.
The way we would casually call each other pet names.
How even when we didn't have to, we shared a bed when we had sleepovers.
How every time we'd say hi or bye to each other, I'd kiss his cheek and he'd kiss my forehead.
How we'd always cuddle up with each other on movie night.
How every Saturday we went to dinner at our favorite diner, but it was never a date.
How I had no hesitation when it came to sitting on his lap, and he had no hesitation in pulling me down to sit on his lap.
How we could stay up from dusk til dawn just...talking.
And when I did eventually notice, I wasn't even with him.
It was late at night. I was reading a book, and this boy and this girl who had been friends since they were 11 realized that they loved each other.
And I realized that that's exactly how I've felt about Mush for years, but I never realized it.
So, despite it being 1 in the morning, I decided to go to his house.
I grab my keys, my phone, and put on my shoes, before hopping out of my bedroom window, as to not wake my parents.
My room is on the ground floor, and I've done this countless times, so I have no issue with it.
I climb into my car and start it, glad that it's not very loud.
I realize how crazy it is that I'm going to my best friends house at 1 in the morning because I realized I love him, but this is important.
I get to his house and walk over to his window. I tap on it a few times before seeing him stir.
He sits up and rubs his eyes before standing up to see what was making the noise.
He gets over to the window and looks, and sees me standing there.
He facepalms, but lets me in nonetheless.
He helps me into the room, and drags me over to his bed.
"Y/n, you know I love you, but what the actual fuck are you doing here at 1 in the morning." He says as he stares down at me.
"That's exactly why" I start "because I realized I love you. Like, i love love you, not just in a best friends kinda way. "
He's silent for a second, and I think I screwed up before he quickly pulls me to him by my hips.
His hands don't leave my hips, and I place my arms on either side of his neck.
When he does eventually say something, it's just "Can I kiss you?"
I nod, and he leans down, connecting our lips gently.
He pulls me over, onto his bed, and we both lay down together.
I curl into his chest, and just look at him. "I love you too, y/n"
"Really? I couldn't tell when you kissed me" I joke.
And we fell asleep (or back asleep in his case) together, wrapped up in each other's arms.
It wasn't some extravagant confession, but it was enough for us.
