(You're the mayor's daughter. Im sure you know where this is going.)
I walk into the doorway of the diner where all of the newsboys are, but not saying anything yet.
"A pair of new shoes with matching laces!" Mush yells
"A permanent box at the sheepshead races!" Racer yells from beside Mush.
"A porcelain tub with boilin water!" Spot adds
But the one that really catches my eye is my friend Blink hopping on a table and saying "A Saturday night with the Mayor's daughter!"
They continue on with their performance, but I don't pay too much attention.
Why would Blink want a Saturday night with me?
I've always been closer with Blink than I have with the rest of the newsies, but I never thought he'd say that. Course, I wouldn't mind a Saturday night with him, he's handsome and he's kind, not to mention I've developed some feelings for him in the years I've known and been friends with him.
Their performance wraps up, and I walk in fully.
"Good job, boys! Front page!" I say, holding up the pape that I'd bought that morning.
Blink runs over and gives me a big hug, spinning me around, then setting me back on the ground.
"Eh, thanks y/n! We worked our rear ends off for this!" Racer yells.
"And you guy's performance was incredible too!"
Blinks eyes widen- I'd assume both of them, but who knows- and he blushes bright pink.
"You saw the entire thing?" He asks, still red.
"Yeah, I did, Blink"
"Why don't we give those two a moment" Jack yells, and I grab Blinks hand and pull him outside.
"So. A Saturday night with the Mayor's daughter, huh?"
His face is bright red, and he says "I'm sorry, I didn't realize you were there-"
"Hush. Was that true? You want a Saturday night with me?"
"I mean...yeah?"
"Good. Cuz I'd like a Saturday night with you, too, Blink" I say, wrapping my arms around him loosely.
I pull him closer to me, our bodies flush with one another.
"Can I kiss you?" He asks.
I nod my head and our lips connect.
And sure enough, the first Saturday after the strike ended, Blink got his Saturday night with the Mayor's daughter.
