At first, there was only darkness, swirling never-ending pitch blackness. It would stretch from the East to the West appearing to be boundless. Then, there was the faintest sound of something moving. It pulsated, thumped, twitched, moved and somehow it held a rhythm to it. A song of its own accord with its original notes. A heartbeat.

Suddenly, there was light! It was blinding and bright. It drowned out the darkness causing it to dissolve away like snow. An intense heat accompanied the light scorching everything around it. The heartbeat grew louder than any war drum. The sound of its beat filled the void with a tremendous noise that shook the entire foundation in epic sympathy. A chorus of other noises joined in the fray giving this new world an earthquake of sound.

Your eyes fluttered open as you felt your entire body floaty. At first, a tranquil calm filled you but it dissolved into full-blown panic. Your feet didn't touch any surface, you were suspended in some sort of strange device. Your body started to thrash around in this strange new space trying to grab at anything you could. Your hands met with something rubbery that you trailed upwards to feel a strange mask on your mouth and nose. This only made your panic grow worse as you forcibly tried to yank free.

A loud alarm started to blare accompanied by bright red lights that danced across your vision. Your hands curled into fists allowing you to swing them wildly. You were met with glass that you could see through. Your environment was foreign to you, it was full of blinking, whirling, noisy machines. Was this some sort of lab? A glorified school lab? What the heck were you?

All of a sudden, a face appeared in front of the glass causing you to tumble backward. Your eyes were wide at the sight of a spidery-looking figure attached to one of the machines in the lab. You were speechless, this felt like something straight out of a horror movie. Unfortunately, you were the unlucky soul to get caught in the spider's web. The spidery thing smiled at you even offering you a little wave.

"Looks like someone finally woke up! Subject 203, glad we finally get to meet. Bet you want to come out?" the stranger cooed. Your heart leaped into your throat triggering your fight or flight instincts. Who was this person? What the heck were you being called a "subject"? Last time you check, you were just an average high schooler that somehow ended up in a situation that you don't recall putting yourself in. Your body tensed as you tried your best to appear tough.

"Don't be scared Subject 203, I know it's a lot at the moment since you pretty much just woke up. How about I break you loose from the pod? Sound good buddy?" the figure chirped while somehow gliding toward a huge lever. Confused about what was going on, you watched as the lever was pulled down causing another alarm to ring out. Covering your ears, you whimpered feeling the weightlessness around you fade. Gravity kicked into overdrive resulting in you faceplanting onto the floor.

Gasping like a fish out of water, you struggled to remove the mask from your face. You were a deer in headlights right about now when that thing bent down to your level. Reaching out with a perfectly normal human hand, the mask was removed allowing air to flow into your lungs. You started coughing up water that pooled all over the tile floor.

"Ah gross, looks like Andy put too much water again the pod," the stranger said with crossed arms. "Well, well Subject 203, welcome to my lab. You may refer to me as Darcy. Now, let's take a look at you, shall we?"
