Chapter 5 – Lost Angel

“A doll?!” I asked, shocked.

“No! I'm the only one like that! At least that I know of...”

“Well, good for the world then.”

She glared at me intently with those violet orbs. I shivered. I think I pissed her off...That's a first! She's normally the one doing the pissing off...Oh! That just sounded weird...Haha...

I think I accidentally laughed out loud, because I could now feel her glare grow more intent and vicious. And then, she did something even worse. She smiled. It was a cold smile, and I could see the fire burning in her eyes.

“And why is that?”

“Um...” I felt myself burning under her intense gaze. “Ah! Then, what did you really mean when you said she was like you?” I desperately tried changing the subject.

Unexpectedly, her gaze actually softened as she grew serious. Wow...At least her anger doesn't last long. Lucky!

“Well, what I meant was, she is the same type of human as me.”

“One that becomes a doll?”

“You seem really stupid today, you know? I just said she wasn't a doll.” She said in that blank arrogant way that pissed me off so much.

“Who you calling stupid?! You stupid sadistic doll!!”

She giggled, “You really are too entertaining!”

“What's so entertaining about me?!”

But, even though I was so angry, and the people around me got so scared they backed away even more, she just laughed so naturally. She seemed to be the only one that didn't get scared of me even though everyone else seemed to flinch at a glance from me these days. And somehow, that kind of made me feel better. Maybe, I wasn't as scary as they thought I was...

Ann suddenly stopped laughing, and looked at me seriously and intently with her violet eyes. But this time, it didn't actually make me feel uncomfortable, as I felt no evil intent. Her face softened into a beautiful smile, which even seemed to make my heart stop. Looking at her at times like this, I couldn't help but be mesmerized by her beauty, and even forget that she is actually a human transformed into a doll, if not a hallucination created by my mind. But even though, her beauty was actually too unworldly to seem real, and that was a slap back to reality. That, and the fact that she was now ruffling my hair, while saying how cute and puppy-like I had looked just then...

“Don't treat me like a kid!!” I burst out in anger, which of course just made her ruffle my longish black hair even more, but this time laughing. How can she even do this? I'm so taller than her! She's making me lean down, dammit!

At this moment, I wished she were like everyone else, so that she would get scared by me and stop teasing me so much...

“Ah...” Ann suddenly stopped ruffling my hair.

I looked up through my messed up straight black hair, my bangs starting to get in my eyes. Her hand was still on my head, pushing me down, but she was staring distractedly somewhere else.

“What is it?”

“She's gone.”

“Huh? Who?” I asked confused, finally freeing myself from her hold and standing up straight, while trying to fix my hair in it's usual way.

“The girl...”

She just stared into the crowd with a blurry look in her usually vivid and vibrant violet eyes. I sighed in defeat, “Wanna go look for her?”
