Chapter 9 – Lost Doll

Annette's POV

Today was a good day. Far from being stuck in that cubicle of a room, and then listening to endless monkey bickering, I got to see a paranoid Blaze. Not that he didn't have reason to be.

A smile crept it's way to my lips as I glanced in his direction. He sat in the desk just besides mine, eyes pretending to pat attention to the teacher in front of him, but brows slightly knitted as he glanced suspiciously to the back. Every time he did, the suspicious figure wearing what would be the uniform of a high school student years ago, when uniforms were widely used, with big conspicuous sun glasses and a fake blonde wig, would turn the attention to the oh so interesting blank and boring white wall at her side. Not that she even needed to. She was at the far back of the class, and wearing sunglasses, she could have easily passed for actually paying attention to the boring math lecture presented by the balding old teacher.

Blaze's glances got more and more frequent, and I could almost feel the laser beams emerging from his intent icy blue eyes. It took all I had not to break out in a fit of giggles right there. The sight of him glancing, every time faster and faster, trying to catch the girl off guard, while she quickly turned her attention, to fast for her own good, was purely hysterical. I guess the only bad part was that I couldn't just laugh out loud.

“Miss Swan, seeing as you are new, and are paying so much attention to my class, why don't you answer this question?” The teacher didn't even seem to notice the two glancing at each other every other second, and glared intently at me, waiting. All eyes were now on me, including Blaze's for once today.

I knew the teacher expected me to squirm and say how sorry I was that I didn't know the answer to the complex formula that was written on the chalky board. I was new, and I wasn’t paying attention. He wanted to give me a stern lecture, regain some of his respect, and prove his worth amidst a too late mid-life crises. Basically, he wanted to feel good by making students feel bad. But, I have never, ever been the type to give people what they want. The only desires I fulfill are my own, and I don't ever plan on changing this thought.

I slowly and elegantly got up from my seat, the attitude of a princess I was so used to using. My face with a diplomatic smile pulling the corners of my lips up, and my violet eyes boring into his dull gray ones with a fiery passion. He didn't think I could answer it. But, he had no idea who he was messing with.

Walking towards the complex math problem, and solving it in a little over two seconds of rapid writing that seemed to flash before his eyes, I solved it easily. He may not have known, but I was far far older than him, and knew much much more. Centuries of human observation had not gone by for nothing. Though there is also the fact that we are more advanced than humans...

Leaving a shocked, mouth gaped bald old man behind, I went back to my seat, smile in place, all wide eyes on me. Even Blaze for a few seconds didn't bother to look back, eyes glued on me in shock. He took far too long to go back to normal than others, his reactions being as slow as always. I couldn't help it as a giggle escaped my lips, causing his shock to turn into anger, which caused him to give me that deadly glare of his. Even though others might have cowered in fear of the sight, I just smirked.

His mouth twitched at the side, and I could see he desperately wanted to tell me something, or more like just yell at me. Glancing at the already way too angry teacher, though, he realized his couldn't, and this just made my smirk grow wider. Blaze was far too interesting. I have no idea what would happen if I lost this prime time entertainment. But, there had to be a reason she was here. Maybe my time was really running out.
