AUTHOR'S POV
There was silence between them. So profound was their love for each other, they needed no words to express it. And so, they sat in silence, on the swing in the backyard, with her head on his shoulder, with their bodies touching, holding hands in the moonlight.
"Do you really love me?" she finally spoke.
He knew something like this will come, sooner or later.
"You know I love you, Yami" he sighed still not looking at her face.
"How much do you love me, Maan?" Once more she spoke and he looked at her in surprise.
"What did you call me?" he asked
"Maan? I hope you don't mind. I just wanted to give you a nickname" she bit her lips.
"I like it" he gave her a small smile and caressed her cheek with his thumb and again stared at the moon.
"How much do you love me?" she again asked impatiently looking at his face when he didn't answer her the first time. Like any other girl, she was insecure too.
"What type of question is this, Yami? How much do I love you? Count the stars in the sky" he replied irritated still not looking at her.
How can he describe in words how much he loves her? Nothing can describe his love and hence his irritation.
She bit her lips to control her tears after his plain answer. Can't he just tell her? Is it so hard for him to describe his love for her?
It was her first time in love, her love was immature and impatient. She just wanted some assurance from him but she didn't get any. Because for Abhimanyu, lovers don't need words, but he forgot that he is experienced in love, she is not.
She just placed her head on his shoulder again so that he couldn't see her tears and he encircled his arm around her shoulder with a smile.
"Maan, is it easy to fall out of love?" she asked looking at the moon which was radiating more than usual today.
"No Yami, it is not easy and sometimes nearly impossible" he replied.
"So, do you still love your first wife?" she asked, her voice emotionless.
"Yes, and will always" he replied with no doubt in his voice and at that moment something broke inside her heart.
She was not evil or a villain but nobody can see their partner loving someone else. It hurts. Really bad. And that's how human hearts are.
No doubt she admires and respects his love for his first wife but she too needed assurance from him. In the era of heartbreaks, she just didn't want to be the victim of it.
"When I used to look at her, I believed that God has dived down into the bottom of creation.
She was the light from the moon and stars. She was the lamp of the temple.
My eyes used to be always thirsty for one sight of her. And just a glimpse of her beautiful face used to make him go crazy.
I had fallen in love with her radiant eyes. Which were my both worlds. I had fallen in love with her smile, which was utterly contagious.
I'm lost in her memories always.
I see her in dreams all night long, and when I wake up in the morning, I only see her.
She was fearfully and wonderfully made, and not a single soul ever is just like her"
He smiled looking at the beautiful moon. It felt like today's moon was their medium of communication.
