The Day He Was Born

It was the last Sunday in November, and it was certainly the most wonderful day of the year. They got a little bit of sun amid the late fall's weather that's been too unpredictable lately.

From the second she woke up, she knew it would be a beautiful day. How could she not when their baby woke her up with a strong kick in the stomach?

"Way to go, Son. We're near the finish line." Despite grimacing when he kicked her again, she caressed the big bump lovingly. She reached to where her husband usually slept and patted the cold bed, just in time for their morning call.

"Good morning, love," His deep voice greeted her softly. "Are you sleeping well?"

"Morning, Jagiya. Junior is in the mood to play until late, and again this morning. All things considered, yes, I slept well."

He chuckled. "He can't wait to meet us."

"Anytime now, Son. Anytime." She chanted in a singsong voice.

"No, no. Wait for Appa." He had dreamed of this — of having a family of his own — for so long. She hoped he could be here to witness his dream coming true.

"Are you listening, Son? Appa said to wait for him, what do you think?"

"Persuade him for me, will you?"

She laughed then rolled her body to her left to get up, and she groaned. Ugh, getting up from bed had not been an easy task as their baby grew bigger.

"Are you okay, love?" The worry in his voice was as clear as day despite the bad reception.

"Jagiya, I think I'm going to do some yoga." She told him.

"Is the back pain getting worse?"

She had been downplaying it, afraid that he got worried over nothing, but—

"Yes, it's much much worse. But all I need is a good stretching and everything will be alright."

She added the last sentence to ease him; he had beaten himself over the fact that he had to leave her this late in the pregnancy, and she might cry a bit (okay, it was with snort and all) when he left a week ago, adding to his guilt, but she wanted him to know that she didn't resent him.

"Don't push yourself, you're near your due date. Should I talk to the instructor?"

"You better not, I'm fine, Jagiya. Aren't you working?"

"I am, just between takes. Kiss Junior for me."

"Will do Appa, a kiss for you, too, from us. We miss you."

We. Us. It warmed her heart to hear that.

"And I miss you, Jagiya. Let me know if there's anything, and I mean— anything, and I'll fly back home at the first chance."

It was a promise he made before he got off the car at the airport and in return, she promised him to keep him in the loop for any development.

"Focus on your filming, we'll be fine. It's just two more nights."

They would wait for him to come back. Whenever that may be.

She continued her day as per planned; she walked to the nearest yoga studio and did some workout in. The stretching truly did wonder to her aching back and her level of energy was always at the peak after each session.

She took notice of her surrounding on her way back, knowing she might spend some time away after giving birth. But to this neighborhood she would come back and raise their son; she had started to imagine where to take him for a stroll, and the best place to have a playdate with his friends.
