Was a year considered a long time? How fast did it go by?
It was breakfast time, her favorite time of the day, and she was at her favorite part of the house, the kitchen and dining area, where she could see the hills surrounding the place she called home through the massive glass window right in front of the chair she currently sat in. And there was no morning ever lovelier than this beautiful Friday morning.
She flipped the page on her desk calendar from her birthday month of January to February and skimmed the row of dates, noting the numerous circles and hearts she put there. Not many still found an outdated thing like a desk calendar useful, but she had this habit of marking important dates at the calendar as a reminder. A sentimental habit she kept from her youth.
February 1. The day he followed her to her shooting location and kidnapped her to have a quiet dinner. He surprised her by the elaborate setting of their dinner and made her tearing up at the end of the night when he kneeled down on one knee and asked her hand in marriage. Officially.
February 10. They posted their much-awaited marriage announcement to the world. That night was her turn to make him teared up after her nationally-broadcasted love declaration. She had kept her mouth shut for more than a month since she shot that interview just to capture his candid reaction to her 'my love right now is my first love' and he didn't disappoint. He pulled her for a lengthy kiss and whispered his own sweetest declaration.
"And you are my last love, Jagiya."
She flipped the calendar again to March and couldn't contain the bigger smile that automatically formed on her face. So many things happened in March, she remembered thinking if everything was real.
March 5. The day of their pre-wedding photo session. She couldn't count how many times she changed her gowns while he sat down surfing through the internet as he waited for her in his same tux. She thought he wasn't interested in her gown, but it was evidently a wrong assumption on her part since he couldn't stop staring at her every time she came out of her dressing room in different gowns. And those striking eyesmiles she gifted him were captured beautifully in all their wedding pictures.
She glanced at the next day and gleefully drew a circle and hearts on the day. A new milestone for their family she wanted to remember.
March 6. The day their infant son turned 100 days old. Even though the tradition might not carry the same weight compared to the past, they were still grateful for all the blessings until now and sincerely prayed for their baby to always be healthy and happy. They hadn't held any celebration over the occasion aside from family lunch, a decision they made the minute her husband came home from his overseas schedule.
It had been hectic few months for him with the promotion of the movie he filmed ages ago came at the same time with his filming for his new movie. She wasn't a stranger to those hectic schedule and despite slightly missing — okay, fine, she missed it a lot — being in her element as an actress, she didn't envy him even a little bit.
She knew he missed those slow days with her; those days they took a hike on the hills every morning, or walking their dog to the nearby park and enjoying rainbow. They spent many times just lounging around the house and tending to their flower plants. They also cooked together, took trip outside of Seoul and gathered with their friends and families anytime they wanted.
It was simply the time of their lives and they hadn't been able to replicate it since Alkong was born.
"No negotiation. I've missed you and our son and we'll have the celebration later when I miss you two a little less." He said very adamantly.
She quirked her eyebrow at him over his statement. "I don't think we will have celebration then."
He chuckled and pulled her in for a hug to appease her. "We will have Alkong's Baek-il celebration soon, I promise. I just need to recharge first and I want to be with you and our son, just the three of us, for a few days."
