The chamber was moist and dark. There was food wrappers and dirty clothing spread across the floor. In the corner was a cracked picture frame hanging over a bare mattress.
“You live here?" Punzie asked in disbelief. Vanellope looked around shyly.
“Yeah," She said and coughed a little. Hiccup lifted her onto his shoulders.
“Maybe she should come with us?" He suggested as she played with his hair, tying braids in it.
“I don't see why not." Merida said. “There's a train station that leads to the jail not far from here. We should grab some supplies and go."
It seemed like a good idea to me, but I was sure Hiccup would object to us looting his house. On the contrary, he seemed kind of excited, suggesting stuff to grab and getting more bags when needed. In fact, we'd cleared most of the closets and kitchen until there was one room left.
“Dad's office," He said dreamily, five duffel bags hanging off of him. “I've never been in there."
“Well then it's about time!" Vanellope said, jumping off his shoulders. She rubbed her feet on the floor until she found a nail and pulled it out of the wooden floor. Then, she shoved it into the keyhole and the door swung open. We all stood there, agape as she came out with a laptop and stacks of movies.
"We better get going soon. I dont wanna get caught by...whoever we're running from."
With that, and a little cough, we managed to zip our bags and return to the night air. It was a beautiful night, with red leaves dappling the abandoned street. We were trying to appreciate the little peace we had, but Vanellope wasn't helping much.
“Who are we running from?"
“Lori."
“Why?"
“She's bad."
“Are you bad?"
“Uh, no?"
“Hiccup, why're you and Punzie holding hands?"
Hiccup let go quickly and we walked the rest of the way in silence.
Sorry for the short chapter!! :)
