“What does that mean?" Punzie asked, pulling on a red sun dress.
“Don't you see?"Hiccup said, putting on the yellow shirt again. “At some point- like when we were born- we were given these tattoos, and were chosen to be leaders based on that! In fact, I'm willing to bet we apply for only one faction just like everyone else!"
“We better get going. We can talk this over at lunch." Merida said, pulling on a white tank top. I realised with amusement she looked Candor.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
We went down to the underground Dauntless shopping complex and found a café called Burning Lava. Punzie was horrified, and sat down rather reluctantly. Merida was too elated to notice, recommending her favourite dishes to us.
“Jack, you'll probably like the marshmallow ice cone...Hiccup, I'll order you the sushi...Punzie can get candy pie...I'm gonna get the Apple cream puffs..."
We all ordered and were halfway through our meal, when I noticed Merida staring at something in the distance (not that I was a staring at her or anything...).
“What's the matter?" I said, licking the whipped cream off of my fingers.
“What's wrong with Elsa?"
I whipped around, saw Elsa, and I saw what Merida meant. She had a messy braid, like she had more important things on her mind. She kept rubbing her arms, like she was cold, but she had a jacket on. She also looked sleep deprived. Elsa looked around.and slipped into a door behind the kitchen that I assumed was a closet.
Merida got up quickly. “Let's go after her."
“Merida...?" Punzie said, but she had already run off. Me, being as impulsive as I am ran off after her.
The closet turned out to be a long hallway leading to a bright light (which made me scared that it was symbolic). Elsa kept her arms wrapped around her as she walked and Merida crept after her. She was doing fine, but clumsy me, I tripped over something and crashed to the floor. Both of the girls whipped around at me, seething. I looked behind me and saw what I'd tripped over was my own shoelace.
“Get away from me!" Elsa shrieked, and promptly began running down the hall. Merida threw me a menacing look and bolted after her, body-slamming her to the ground.
“Get off! You're insane!" Elsa howled, but Merida stayed firm.
“We need answers." Merida growled.
Elsa stilled. “About what?"
I caught on. “Lori. You're one of her cronies, right?"
“I am not a cronie." Elsa hissed. “And I don't know what you're talking about."
“You're lying." I said suddenly. In Candor we were always taught the three signss that you're lying:
-You never look at who you're talking to.
- You can't keep you're hands still.
-You don't keep a steady voice.
Elsa showed all of these traits. Her eyes kept flickering to the damp walls and her voice quivered uncertainly. I then looked at her hands. They were moving alright, but not nervously. She looked like she was going after something.
“Merida, watch out!"
Merida rolled off right in time, as Elsa pulled out a gun and fired it. I ducked as well, and the bullet lodged itself in the cave ceiling. I didn't stay for her to fire another. I just grabbed Merida's hand and ran back down the hallway to the café. Nobody noticed our return but Hiccup and Punzie.
“What happened?" Punzie said but I just grabbed her hand and pulled her out of her chair.
“Let's go back to the dorm. We'll explain everything."
